Description

We are seeking Veteran Volunteers to provide meaningful support and companionship to fellow veterans receiving hospice care. Through our Veteran-to-Veteran Program, veteran volunteers have the unique opportunity to connect with patients through shared military experiences, fostering understanding, camaraderie, and dignity at the end of life. Veteran volunteers may visit patients for companionship, share stories and memories from military service, provide a listening ear, and offer support to veterans and their families. One of the most meaningful aspects of this role is participating in Veteran Recognition Ceremonies (Bedside Pinnings), where hospice patients are honored for their military service and sacrifices. These ceremonies often include the presentation of a certificate, commemorative pin, and words of gratitude for their service to our country. Veteran volunteers may also assist with special events, Memorial Day and Veterans Day observances, community outreach efforts, and other activities that honor and recognize veteran patients. This opportunity is ideal for veterans from any branch of service who are looking to continue serving others in a meaningful way. Training and ongoing support are provided, and volunteer schedules are flexible.
