Poverty is a reality for many individuals and families. But unless you’ve experienced poverty, it’s difficult to truly understand. The Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS) bridges that gap from misconception to understanding. CAPS is an interactive immersion experience. It sensitizes community participants to the realities of poverty.
Volunteers are needed to facilitate our simulation as ‘Staff.’ This is an immersive experience in which volunteers will assume roles such as bankers, law enforcement officers, childcare providers, store clerks, and more. In each role, volunteers will be helping (or hurting) the participants as they navigate through the poverty simulation.
The simulation will take place on December 2 in the Interprofessional Education Room (Health Sciences Center Room 2940). Volunteers will need to arrive at 4:30 PM. Dinner and beverages will be provided.
