What: National Equal Pay Day is the date that women’s wages catch up to men’s from the year before. Women in the United States earn only 82 cents for every dollar earned by men and WV women earn even less than a quarter of men’s. Black women fare even worse – Equal Pay Day for Black Women is not until Aug. 3rd!
Delegates and Senators have introduced several pieces of legislation to address the pay gap and are honoring two of the women with West Virginia roots from the book and movie, Hidden Figures, Katherine Johnson Dorothy Vaughan. The bill numbers are: SB 288, HB 2121, HB 3247, SB 43
