The purpose of this course is to provide the participants with best practices including tools, techniques and a basic roadmap to build capabilities in the use of social media technologies in their own emergency management organizations (State, local, Tribal) in order to further their emergency response missions.

  1. Please have an active iServe account before participating
  2. Register for this event on iServe
  3. Click this link https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid.
  4. Click ‘Register for a FEMA SID’
  5. Register
  6. Write down your FEMA ID
  7. Click this link https://training.fema.gov/is/courseoverview.aspx?code=IS-42
  8. In the top right hand corner under ‘Take the Course’ click ‘Interactive Web Based Course’
  9. Take the course
  10. On the last page of the course click ‘Take the Exam’
  11. Enter your FEMA ID and Last name
  12. Click ‘I agree'
  13. Fill in Mailing Info and Business/Organization (if you do not know what to select, select ’Other’)
  14. Click ‘Continue to Exam’
  15. Take Exam
  16. Once your exam is complete it takes 1-2 business days to process and you will receive an email with a link to your certificate
  17. Email your certificate to hmlayman@mix.wvu.edu for 4 hours of service credit
  18. All hours will be approved by Feb 28th
