Breakfast and Lunch Provided!
Winter Weather Posse is a volunteer organization that provides yard clean-up services to older persons and those who can't do this on their own. Roughly 300 volunteers visit 75+ homes across Monongalia County for this one day event. We meet at the Wesley United Methodist Church, enjoy breakfast then disperse in teams to area neighborhoods. If your group can arrange a carpool that's great. If you do not have transportation, you may ride in a carpool that will be organized at the church.
Our project is on one day each fall, and we work no matter the weather - so dress for the weather! (gloves, boots, etc) We rake leaves; trim bushes; install smoke/co detectors; in short, we do everything we can to prepare the senior's home for winter. We feed you before the project starts, and after it ends.
PLEASE NOTE: If you register, we are counting on you! If you're not fully committed - again - knowing we work in all kinds of weather - please do not sign-up in advance - just show up on the date and provide your email at check-in. It's easier to place you on a team as an unregistered volunteer, than to have to cancel your spot on a team.
If you are with a student group, please add a note. It is best to have a leader register as a group and add each of the individual mix emails on iServe so that you will be properly credited. Be sure to log your hours after you volunteer.
We need help in the following areas: 1. leaf raking teams; 2. power tool teams; 3. food prep teams; 4. administrative assistance; 5. prep work and end of project work
