General Assistants - Empty Bowls Luncheon

Empty Bowls Monongalia raises funds to combat food insecurity in Monongalia County. Last year we distributed $140,000 to 23 Pantries, Meal Programs and School Backpack Programs. Some of these agencies indicate they could not operate without support from Empty Bowls. Our 'signature' fundraiser is the Annual Feb. Soup and Bread Luncheon for which we need more than 500 volunteers. General Assistants take the place of any volunteers who do not show up at the Luncheon, usually due to illness or other complications. General Assistants are quite important to the success of the luncheon. Our experience is that with more than 500 volunteers working to make the luncheon successful, not all volunteers are able to attend. General Assistants may also be asked to help in an area where an additional volunteer is needed.
