Mason-Dixon Historical Park Trail Crew this volunteer need will allow you to get outside and work in nature to accrue your volunteer hours. With that be prepared to get a little dirty and maybe muddy, but that never hurt anyone! This will be hard days work but also rewarding! Trail work crew will work closely with the park's superintendent on this day.
We are in the process of constructing a new trail system, as well as maintaining the current trails on the grounds of Mason-Dixon Historical Park in Core, WV (13 miles from Morgantown). We need the help of many volunteers! Work takes place on many different days, so we can find a day that works for you. Watch for other shifts to be posted or contact park superintendent, J.R. We're looking for volunteers who have enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and pitch into the best of their ability. Experience is not necessary; however, the nature of hiking and the work can be strenuous, so good health is important. While you don't need to spend months lifting weights in a gym, overall fitness is helpful. A great attitude and a willingness to challenge yourself is what we are looking for!
The Park Superintendent will provide training in safety procedures, the use of hand tools, and techniques of trail construction and maintenance. This trail building project is an ongoing need and a continuing amount of volunteers hours will be necessary. Whether you are looking for a few volunteer hours to share or many, our trail system can use your help.
