After School Explorers is looking for volunteers on Monday October 29th from 3pm to 8:30pm to help with LIGHTS ON! a nationwide event to celebrate the importance of out of school programming.
This event is in PRESTON COUNTY at the Craig Civic Center on Tunnelton St in Kingwood. (Just below the Buckwheat Festival Fairgrounds) (about 20-25 miles form Morgantown).
Our event is in conjuntion with Main Street Kingwood who will be hosting their Business After Hours trick or treating from 5-7pm. We are looking for the following volunteers.
Feel Free to wear a costume related to one of your favorite childhood books!
Feel Free to bring candy to share at the stations
1. ART STUDENTS: Someone to help create ART for the walls in the Civic Center--poster board is fine. The theme needs to focus on out of school programming
2. PHOTOGRAPHY STUDENTS: We would like to have some picture frames for a "Modern Family" station and you will take pictures of the families attending.
3. ENGINEERING STUDENTS: We would like some 3-5 minute STEM, STEAM or STREAM activities for the families to participate in.
4. EDUCATION STUDENTS: It would be great to have a READ ALOUD section for you to read stories to the students.
5. PHYSICAL EDUCATION STUDENTS: We would love an activity that gets the kids moving, we have chalk for hop scotch (weather permitting.)
6. SOCIAL WORK STUDENTS: You might want to be a station that helps family find services they need.
7. MARKETING STUDENTS: We need you to help promote our event!
