The Social Work Intern supports individuals and families by assisting with financial assistance coordination and community outreach. This role involves direct client interaction, both by phone and in person, and offers meaningful, hands-on experience in social services within a supportive and flexible environment. Volunteers may begin on May 11 and are welcome to continue through October if they choose, though there is no required minimum or maximum time commitment.
- Meet with clients to discuss and assist with financial assistance needs (phone and in-person)
- Handle and track monetary assistance accurately and responsibly
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients from diverse backgrounds
- Accompany nursing staff on visits to homebound individuals
- Assist with community connection efforts, including sending get-well, birthday, and encouragement cards
- Maintain confidentiality and appropriate documentation related to client interactions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable working directly with people in sensitive situations
- Organized and detail-oriented, especially when handling money or financial records
- Reliable, compassionate, and respectful
- Interest in social work, human services, healthcare, or community outreach (students encouraged)
