April is nationally recognized as Sexual Assault Awareness Month and, as such, RDVIC hosts an annual "Walking With Survivors" event to raise awareness of this issue and to come together as a community to show our support for survivors. As April is also recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month, we will also be raising awareness for this equally important cause. We have previously participated in the national campaign "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes," where our male participants walked through downtown Morgantown in high-heeled shoes to get a small taste of what it's like to walk a mile in someone else's shoes. Although women are disproportionately affected by sexual violence, we recognize that sexual violence knows no boundaries: It is not restricted by gender, sexual orientation, race, age, or economic status. We have changed our title in order to be very clear that all survivors deserve the support of their community.
Note: Signing up on iServe is for the purpose of receiving credits ONLY. If you do not sign up through the above link, there will be no way to verify which shift you are planning to assist with.
