Vision:
Children and Family Leadership envisions Monongalia County as a county where all families are sustained, all children grow up free from abuse and neglect, all parents and caregivers have the knowledge and support needed to raise healthy children, and all communities promote the overall well-being of children through sound policies and systemic approach to keep them safe.
Mission:
Children and Family Leadership Council strives to be the vehicle of change in preventing child abuse and neglect, building awareness and understanding of the importance of early development to the future success of children, supporting and/or initiating public and private collaborations that improve and/or expand the current range of services for children and families.
Children and Family Leadership Strategic Objectives:
Early Childhood Education Partnerships- a collaborative effort to identify develop and implement responsive services to young children and families.
Child Abuse Prevention Awareness- increase awareness of the protective factors that contribute to healthy families, effective parenting, and prevention of child maltreatment.
Success by Six Initiative- a systematic approach to educate and increase awareness about the importance of early brain development.
The council is made up of local agency representatives and Monongalia County community members. We meet about once a month virtually to plan for events. Each cycle consists of about six in-person events outside of planning meetings which have historically included community baby showers, in-person training for the community, and more.
Council members ideally will participate in at least 75% of meetings and events.
