Free Income Tax Volunteers of VITA!

Don't be scared off by the word "taxes!" Helping individuals in our community complete their annual income taxes is easier than ever. We don't do the long form by hand, and you don't need to be a professional accountant to join the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program.

All volunteers are thoroughly trained prior to starting their service and receive support throughout their time. No memorization required, as you will have access to any and all resources to help while you are working with a taxpayer. Training and certification takes just a few hours to complete, and you can sign up for as many appointments as you would like with flexible scheduling options.

We have VITA sites in Marion, Taylor, Randolph, Barbour, and Tucker Counties. In person volunteering is preferred, but remote volunteering is possible. Volunteers can serve as greeters (no tax prep), preparers, or quality reviewers, based on your level of comfort. 

VITA is an extremely impactful program for both the volunteer and the taxpayer. You will learn a valuable and necessary life skill, meet many new people, and help return millions of dollars to our community.
