The Cure Kids Cancer Fund supports the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Program at WVU Medicine Children's Hospital.
What We Do
The Fund supports a variety of psychosocial resources for children and families, including:
A one week residential summer camp for children with either a cancer diagnosis or a bleeding disorder. Camp Winaca Camp HemoVon is accredited through the American Camp Association.
Provides gas cards for travel to and from the hospital during a child's treatment.
Special events-End of Treatment Parties, Birthday Parties or other monumental milestones. Fall Family Harvest Celebration held in October.
The Cure Kids Cancer Fund also supports the ongoing participation in the Children's Oncology Group, an international consortium of Children's Hospitals and treatment programs, pursuing research to provide cutting edge pediatric cancer therapy to children and young adults. The WVU Children's Hospital Pediatric Hematology Oncology Program reaches children and young adults through out the State of West Virginia and several surrounding states. In addition, it allows the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Team to participate in national organizations, including ASH, APHON, APOSW and other programs to keep the medical team current in the overall care of the child and the family.
Future program development includes adding a service dog to the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Team.
