Libera, Inc.

Libera was founded in 2015 to help girls in West Virginia be their most free and authentic selves.  Our nonprofit meets girls where they are with the connection, resources and skills they need to succeed.  Statistics show that West Virginia girls are some of the most at-risk in the nation.  Libera's mission is to provide (1) mentorship, (2) education, and (3) employment opportunities to WV youth and young women through the transformative power of listening, connection, and hope.  Our vision is to build brighter futures for youth and young women in WV, so they are free to achieve their dreams.

Libera provides peer support groups using our LIBERA Model to support the mental health of teens. These groups create safe spaces for girls to feel seen and heard as they overcome barriers and get connected to resources for a brighter future. We know our groups are making a difference. Research shows our evidence-based LIBERA model decreases symptoms of anxiety and depression in girls and increases their life satisfaction.

In our Mentorship & Success Planning program, we walk alongside young women as they navigate life, listening to them and connecting them to the resources and skills they need to be independent and thriving adults. 

And through our social enterprise, The Lila Bear Explore(HER) Club, we provide part-time employment to at-risk young women so they have the opportunity to earn income while learning job skills in a safe and supportive workspace.
