Who We Are

The Clarksburg History Museum is seeking dedicated volunteers to help us preserve and share our community’s history. Our growing archive includes historic documents, photographs, newspapers, oral histories, and research materials that tell the story of Clarksburg and Harrison County.

We need assistance with processing digital documents, organizing and maintaining Google Drive archives, and fulfilling research requests through the WVU West Virginia & Regional History Center. Volunteers may help retrieve specific newspaper articles by date or date range, request and organize document scans, and assist with digital file management.

Most technology based volunteer work can be completed virtually or on site at the WVU library with materials being submitted via email or Google Drive.

On site opportunities at the museum, including digitizing photographs and documents using museum equipment, must be scheduled in advance. Volunteers should have a strong working knowledge of Google Drive, basic technology skills, and attention to detail.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals who enjoy research, organization, and working with historical materials. To learn more or express interest, please contact Beth at beth@clarksburghistorymuseum.com

What We Do

We serve as a resource for local history-focused institutions and organizations for questions on museum collections and historic preservation. We do local history-centered lectures and exhibits as well as museum and conservation workshops. Also, we advocate using historic preservation as a way to revitalize West Virginia's communities.
