Who We Are
Our Mission
The mission of Bartlett House, Inc. is to house, provide an avenue to self-sufficiency, and advocate for people experiencing homelessness.
Our Approach
Bartlett House is committed to the Housing First model: house people quickly, then provide services as needed. Utilizing this model, we can provide close, individual advocacy and support that allow people experiencing homelessness to achieve housing stability.
What We Do
Housing First is a homeless assistance approach that prioritizes providing people experiencing homelessness with permanent housing as quickly as possible – and then providing supportive services as needed. Permanent supportive housing enables people to become housed first and then work to regain control over their lives and their health in a safe, secure environment.
Our programs include triage/overnight shelter, bridge housing, rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing, and affordable housing for individuals and families. Our programs are designed to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness.
Triage Shelter
The Triage Shelter is our first line of housing support for the homeless and serves as the “front door” of our Housing First model. The Triage Shelter provides temporary shelter for those people living on the streets or who have no housing to go to.
At our triage shelter, a staff member performs an intake that assess the specific needs of the individual in crisis and directs that person to the appropriate resources. The goal of the Triage Shelter is to assess our clients and move them to bridge/transitional housing, rapid re-housing, or permanent supportive housing as soon as possible.
Bridge Housing Program
Nitor Suites serves as the home for our Bridge Housing program. In the Bridge Housing program, residents work closely with Case Managers to determine what has led them to homelessness and what steps they must take to overcome their situation. Bridge Housing residents must live by program rules, pay rent (if applicable), and abide by a budget and savings plan. The goal of the Bridge Housing Program is to provide residents a safe, temporary shelter and case management services that allow them to become more stable and attain safe, sustainable housing upon exiting the program. With this goal in mind, the program has a maximum length of stay of 6 months.
Nitor Suites is home to 11 suites that house a total of 36 residents. Each suite has its own restroom and each resident is provided with a bed, wardrobe and storage space. Our dedicated kitchen staff serves residents 3 meals a day, 7 days a week and residents have access to on-site laundry, vending machines, a day room and case management services.
Rapid Rehousing Program
Our rapid re-housing program helps people experiencing homelessness move quickly from emergency shelters, bridge housing, or the streets into housing. Rapid re-housing funds are flexible, offering short-term and medium-term rental subsidies, security deposits, utility assistance, or other start-up costs to individuals who need support securing housing.
Permanent Supportive Housing Program
Nitor Apartments serves as the home for our Permanent Supportive Housing program (PSH). PSH enables people to become housed first and then work to regain control over their lives and their health in a safe, secure environment. PSH works because it combines quality affordable housing with an array of accessible support services.
?Nitor Apartment residents have all of the typical rights and responsibilities of being a tenant. Each resident has a standard lease agreement to which they must comply. Residents receive comprehensive case management and other supportive services.
The PSH of Nitor Apartments is home to 16 one-bedroom, fully furnished apartments. Residents have access to on-site laundry, vending machines, free parking, and weekly grocery shopping trips.
Affordable Housing Program
Nitor Apartments serves as the home for our Affordable Housing program.
