Upward Bound/ TRIO

Upward Bound is a federally-funded TRIO program established to help high school students overcome social, academic, and cultural barriers to higher education. Upward Bound seeks to first help students achieve academic success in and to graduate from high school, and secondly to encourage enrollment and persistence in post-secondary education. Students participate in weekly tutoring, monthly activities at the high school and on campus, and a residential summer program.

Upward Bound/ TRIO provides opportunities for students to get a taste of college life, and to develop skills which will help them navigate the challenges they will face in the pursuit of a postsecondary education. Service needs include academically-focused activities like tutoring or discipline-specific workshops to exposure to culture or artistic endeavors.
