Who We Are

The Guardians of the West Fork Watershed is a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to preserving the ecological health of the West Fork River. Our mission includes improving water quality, restoring habitats, and encouraging outdoor recreation, notably through the creation of the 75.4-mile West Fork River Water Trail. We collaborate with state and federal partners, such as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the WV Division of Natural Resources, to carry out restoration projects and enhance public access to the river. The Guardians also engage the community through events like Float the Fork, blending paddling, local music, food, and environmental education. Our outreach includes working with schools and universities to promote awareness and conservation efforts.
