Community Markets Inc.

Community Markets Inc. (“CMI”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Charles Town, WV whose mission is to connect locally grown food to families in need. Our vision is to ensure that healthy West Virginian grown food is on every West Virginian’s plate.

In two & a half years, Community Markets Inc. has fed 12,300 people in 10 WV counties with 134,100 lbs. of healthy & locally-sourced food and put over $321,500 back into farmers and small family business owners’ pockets. All of CMI’s programs and activities increase food security and access to healthy and affordable food grown in WV for all Appalachian families, especially underserved and low-income families. Our programs include Community Markets Food Box Giveaways and a Local Food Access Program. Community Markets' Food Box Giveaways provide fresh and local food to food insecure families in Jefferson County, WV and the surrounding region. One Giveaway is held every month at Saint James Catholic Church in Charles Town, WV. The Local Food Access Program increases access to healthy food grown by local farmers. Food is available for purchase through an e-Commerce website and is ready for pick up at the St. Isidore Farmers Market weekly.
