Who We Are
Under the federal Clean Water Act, the U.S. Geological Survey supports a water research institute or center in each U.S state and territory. Since 1967, the West Virginia Water Research Institute (WVWRI) at West Virginia University has served the people of the state by developing solutions to important environmental and economic development issues and disseminating the results to the public, legislators and government officials.
What We Do
WVWRI aims to bring together the best available expertise to explore and implement solutions that improve and protect the quality of West Virginia's water resources and expand the understanding of threats and opportunities through education and outreach related to West Virginia's water resources.
We aim to work with a diverse cross-section of stakeholders, funders, collaborating faculty, researchers, staff and students to participate in water-related research in the state to work for real, measurable improvements to West Virginia's water resources.
