Who We Are

Since 1978, the Monongalia Arts Center (“MAC”) has been committed to providing affordable access to the visual, performing, and literary arts through education and community outreach. Under new leadership, the MAC is looking to the future, revamping its programming and outreach initiatives and planning for major renovations of its space at 107 High Street in support of its vision.

What We Do

MAC will offer adults’ and children’s classes on a sliding fee scale designed to increase revenue in support of its mission where possible, but never to deny access where cost is a barrier. Classes and exhibitions will range from the performing arts (theater, dance, music) to the visual arts (painting, ceramics, photography, graphic design) and literary arts. The MAC will continue to partner with local schools for student art exhibitions and, with respect to children’s programming, the MAC will provide a pre-school art program, an after-school program, and a summer workshop. The MAC will expand its offerings to include virtual classes and art education initiatives as well. The MAC will also utilize its space to maintain an art incubator, with an artist in residence offering classes and demonstrations. Eventually, the MAC would like to offer courses for business acumen development, where people can learn how to frame, promote and market their work to the public.
