Veteran-to-Veteran (Vet 2 Vet)

Currently, The Vet 2 Vet program is vetted through the volunteer office at WVUH-Ruby Memorial Hospital. The volunteer group is comprised of veterans and veteran supporters, some WVU veteran students, that visit veteran patients at WVUH. Our role is to offer support to the veteran patient and their families, which can simply mean acknowledging their service and lending an ear, as veterans more readily share experiences with fellow veterans. This can ultimately enhance the patient’s experience and care in this setting. As the number of veteran patients seeking care in civilian facilities/hospitals continues to increase, their need for support also increases. Our need for volunteers also increases.
