Who We Are
Connecting Champions is a non-profit based out of Pittsburgh, but rapidly expanding to hospitals across the country. Over the last several years we have worked with over 250 kids and paired them with over 50 different occupations! We are the one group who walks into a family's hospital room and doesn't ask about the cancer. Our mission is to provide social support to children and families battling pediatric cancer. We want to promote child development, decrease family distress, help youth develop a greater than cancer identity, and create a plan for life after cancer! Most importantly, we like to have fun! Visits can include anything from playing Pokemon to joining a train conductor on the tracks.
What We Do
Connecting Champions asks kids, teens, and young adults with cancer, "what do you want to be when you grow up?" and connects them with a mentor or companion for their cancer journey and beyond.
Not all of our kids & teens know exactly what they want to be when they grow up, but they still need a friend that can be there throughout their cancer journey.
