Who We Are
The Monongalia County Solid Waste Authority (MCSWA) has a five-member board of directors who are in charge of overseeing the powers and duties of the MCSWA. These board members are appointed by different agencies which include the Secretary of the WV Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP), the Monongalia County Commission, the board of supervisors for the Conservation District (CD) in which our county is situated, and the Chairman of the Public Service Commission (PSC). The MCSWA has a Solid Waste Administrator to manage the office affairs including helping residents with questions, grant writing and grant project management, collaborating with other entities and educating the public.
What We Do
The Monongalia County Solid Waste Authority (MCSWA) has a commitment to all county residents to educate them about disposing of their solid waste by reducing, reusing, recycling and as a last resort, sending to the landfill, to protect public and environmental health, safety and welfare and to preserve the natural beauty of the county. In addition, the MCSWA provides information about proper disposal of solid waste, events occurring throughout the county and contact information for recycling and litter control.
