Who We Are

Harmony for Hope of West Virginia, Inc. is a non-profit organization established in 2011 to unify West Virginia through music and art while preserving the Appalachian heritage of the region. The organization started as the Mount Hope Alumni Band and has since expanded its mission beyond music and into art. Harmony for Hope operates with full volunteer support and is committed to preserving the rich cultural heritage of the region while providing opportunities for community members to learn new skills and explore their creativity.

What We Do

Harmony for Hope collaborates with several organizations to make a significant impact on the community. The organization established the Mount Hope historic walking trail, a 1.25-mile trail that features artwork and 16 points of architectural significance throughout the town of Mount Hope. Harmony for Hope also offers the Harmony's Kids program, which aims to provide communities with resources for children's programming that includes music, art, and Appalachian traditions. The organization's flagship band, the Mount Hope Regional Band, performs regularly at area festivals, events, and parades, and practices at a location in partnership with the Mount Hope Christian Church. Additionally, Harmony for Hope oversees the preservation of the Fayette County Community Arts Center, which provides a potters shop, a metal shop, and a woodworking shop called UrWay Furniture. The Free Community Makers Space is open to anyone and offers access to tools, equipment, and resources for various art and crafting projects.
