Help the Rosenbaum Family House by participating in a drive or collection of high-need items. We constantly need everyday items that are typically used at home. Our goal is to make our guests feel welcome and comfortable, and these items are essential for both their stay and our services.

Want to make a difference this semester?  Join us at Rosenbaum Family House and help provide comfort and care for families facing medical crises right here in Morgantown.

It is as easy as it sounds.  ️We have a fully equipped kitchen that you can use to cook in. We also have a small food pantry that you can check out ahead of time for supplies or ideas.

Your group can arrive at any time during the day to begin preparations. You may prepare the food in our kitchens, and our staff will monitor it throughout the day. We have limited kitchen space and parking. If your group has more than 10 people, we kindly request that you sign up for two meals.

The Rosenbaum Family House is looking for volunteers to assist our meal groups. This could mean helping them prepare a meal, finding extra supplies, setting up and/or cleaning up.

Dinner is served from 5p - 7p, Monday - Friday; 4p - 6p Saturday & Sunday. 

Occasionally, we are able to serve breakfast. Those times are flexible based on the individual or group providing that meal. The average time is usually 6a - 8a or 7a - 9a.

The expected shift would be a total of three hours, leaving 30 minutes before and after the meals.

The Rosenbaum Family House is looking for evening volunteers who can lead our guests in a class, activity, game, or any other type of event.

Some activities have included cookie decorating, origami, playing music, painting, board games, and baking. 

In this meeting, we will be making blankets! 

Join us for a fun, community-focused event this spooky season! We’ll be hosting a decorated trunk/table at Wild and Wonderful Kids’ Trunk or Treat on Thursday, Oct. 16 (6pm– 8 PM). It’s a great chance to represent our fraternity, get creative with decorations, hand out candy, and connect with local families. 

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) will be needing volunteers during the tax season for preparing taxes at any of our various VITA sites.  We do provide trainings for anyone that is interested in volunteering with VITA. Clean Up for the weekly Friday Prayer! Volunteers are needed every Wednesday and Thursday to clean up the mosque. No Tricks! Just Treats! The WVU School of Public Health's Student Association of Public Health (SAPH) and Health Administration Student Association (HASA) are teaming up to participate in WVU's annual Track-or-Treat event. Help us prepare for the event by donating large, unopened, and individually wrapped bags of candy. One hour of community service will be granted for each bag of candy donated. The maximum amount of candy donations are two bags a person (two hours of community service). 

Donations can be dropped off at WVU HSC South room 3305 between Monday, October 6th - Monday, October 27th. Please label your donations with a post it note/paper including your name and mix email.

This free gallery crawl brings local businesses and artists in Downtown Morgantown together to showcase our vibrant arts community. Volunteers will assist First Friday locations with a variety of tasks, such as checking people in, taking photos of exhibitions, and manning information tables.

Since 2011, Fairmont State has hosted the WV State Championship for the FIRST LEGO League Challenge.  This STEM competition engages WV youth ages 9-14 in the development of a research project based on the annual theme (archeology this year), and the development of a LEGO robot capable of autonomously completing a number of tasks (missions) on a 4' x 8' field.  Teams that perform well in both the judged (presentation) and performance (programming) areas may earn an invitation to the World Championship or national tournaments.  This exciting event hinges on the need for 30 judges who work in teams of 3 to conduct an interview with the students competitors about their: Robot Design & coding, Research Project, and Core Values.  Training and rubrics are provided, along with a staff shirt and all meals.  No prior experience is necessary, but you do have to enjoy inspiring the next generation through friendly queries about how they worked together to solve the challenges.  Your day begins at 7:30 am with continental breakfast, a briefing and room assignments.  You will interview approx. 5 teams in the morning and complete rubrics with your fellow judges.  Over a catered lunch, you will debate with other rooms to determine the best teams in each area.

Virtual Greetings for hospitalized Veterans. Send your personally designed patriotic greeting cards as well get well wishes to hospitalized Veterans at the Louis A. Johnson VAMC. These greetings are printed in color and distributed to Veterans throughout the Medical Center and our Community-Based Outpatient Clinics. 

We have noticed that individuals are copying and pasting copyrighted items from various sites

including: Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Etsy.com, etc., we ask that you please be mindful that doing so

is not what was intended for this opportunity. Our goal of this Volunteer Need is to have 'homemade'

cards as if they were receiving virtual cards in the mail. We encourage you not to engage in this

We need your help! Work alongside members of the WVU Sustainable Landscapes Committee and First Energy Green Team to revitalize a pollinator garden on the Evansdale campus. Volunteers are needed to help plant new seeds into an existing pollinator garden. Volunteers are reminded to wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.

WVU has a commitment to increase the diversity of tree species and improve canopy cover in landscaped areas of campus. Help us plant new trees on the Evansdale campus! Volunteers will work alongside WVU faculty and staff to plant trees on October 22 from 10 am to 12 pm. Volunteers are reminded to wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Rain day cancellations will be made one day in advance and volunteers will be notified through iServe messages.

Welcome WVU students and faculty!  We need your help!  Animal Friends is a 501(c)(3) non profit with a mission to save animals from euthanasia.  We operate a thrift shoppe in Morgantown that funds the operation of our no kill shelter.  Items are donated from the community and processed for sale in our shoppe.  As you can imagine, this takes a lot of work!  We are accepting volunteers on Tuesday 11-5, Thursday and Friday 11-3 and Saturday 10-3.  Your help would be so appreciated.   Help is needed to sort and clean donations, tag clothes, assist cashiers, arranging displays and pricing and a variety of other jobs.  See you at the shoppe?

Join us at Mason-Dixon Historical Park on October 11th 2025 for the Mason- Dixon Line Festival, Craft Show, and Buckwheat Cake Breakfast! 

Buckwheat cake breakfasts (or pancakes) will be served out of the red barn from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM , after breakfast clean up is complete many volunteers will be able to leave as additional help won't be needed. 

During the morning before the start of the Mason-Dixon Line Festival, attendees will be able to enjoy a home-cooked buckwheat breakfast! Buckwheat cakes are delicious sour pancakes and will be served with choice of butter, syrup, and/or applesauce toppings. The cakes are served with pork sausage patties. Regular pancakes will also be available. 

12 noon - 3 pm we will have additional events happening such as the Surveyors society doing demonstrations, a craft and vendor show, and more! 

Volunteers will be needed to ensure that this event flows smoothly, this will include helping with the breakfast, serving, aiding in event set up and clean up, and parking cars! We will have a large turn out of vendors and I will need someone who can read a vendor map and help send vendors to their areas as they arrive. 

ALL VOLUNTEERS WILL EAT BREAKFAST FREE, REFRESHMENTS WILL ALSO BE PROVIDED. 

Volunteers may sign up for partial hours. Some may volunteer for the morning of the breakfast and some may help with the the festival only! All volunteers helping with breakfast should arrive by 7:00am. I need to be notified in advance what times you plan to attend to assist. Antiperspirant Deodorant, Shampoo, Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Comb/Brush, razors, shaving cream, lip balm, socks, nail files and clippers, decks of cards, puzzle books like word searches, pens, and mechanical pencils. 

This is for the Red Cross Club service members to log their hours for volunteering at the Trunk or Treat.

In this meeting, we will be collecting candy donations for track or treat and also deciding on our theme for the event. The sign-up for the event will also be posted to those interested in volunteering. We also have a guest speaker coming in to discuss disaster relief. 

This year, the Monongalia County SWA started a Community Paint Reuse Program.  The Community Paint Reuse Program collects latex paint from residents and screens it, to make sure it can be reused, and then provides it for free to residents, non-profits or other organizations wanting paint for beautification projects.

This is our second Paint Pick Up Event this year where residents can stop by and check out the available reusable latex paint and take it home for free.

Due to the location we need volunteers to help with directing residents to the paint pick up area and helping set up and break down after the event.  Volunteers do not have to work with paint but we might need help loading the truck if there is a lot leftover.

Not only will snacks and beverages be provided but lunch too!  And, SABO Coffee Roasters will have their table set up to provide free samples and some of their coffee to purchase.  A percentage of proceeds go to the WVU Children's Hospital in partnership with Sam's Club.

Track-or-Treat, hosted by WVU Women's Basketball and the Statler College of Engineering, is our annual Halloween-themed community event, bringing together WVU students, local children, and families for a safe and fun evening of trick-or-treating at the Track & Field, adjacent to the Hope Coliseum. 

Volunteers help create a festive environment and ensure the event runs smoothly. Student organizations interested in hosting a table (decorations, candy, giveaways, etc.) should register using the separate sign-up link below AND have any volunteers for the day of sign up through this volunteer need on iServe. The Monongalia County Solid Waste Authority is holding our fall 2025 Paper Shredding Event on October 11th with PACE Enterprises!

This event is free for residents to bring their documents and papers with sensitive information to not only be recycled through shredding but also to keep their documents secure in the process.  Come out and see just how many residents will benefit from this event!

For this event, you might greet residents, check them in, help with traffic control, or pass out materials, and help set up and break down and clean the area.

And because this event is in Mylan Park you can stay and meet friends to enjoy the park!

The lively wellness-focused event features games, crafts, music and food and merchandise sales, culminating in the class-by-class "stroll" around the school that raises money for students field trips, activities, and supplies. 

We will need facepainters, game attendants, and bouncy house supervisors - all fun stuff!

The Family Resource Network is excited to partner with the Morgantown Public Library System to host “Where the Wild Books Are,” a themed Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library celebration! We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help bring the magic of this event to life.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Morgantown & Pittsburgh collected pop tabs annually to support their mission, a world where all children have access to medical care, and pledge never to turn a family away who cannot afford to stay. Pop tabs annually generate between $5000-$8000 for RMHC! The tabs are collected and recycled into cash!

WVU is stepping up to collect tabs campus-wide and support our local RMHC, which is located directly next to the Health Sciences Campus & WVU Hospitals.

RMHC ensures that families are supported and actively involved in their children’s medical care. RMHC's are located near top children’s hospitals, allowing parents who are far from home to stay close to their hospitalized child and benefit from the comforts of home without incurring hotel and food costs. 90% of top children’s hospitals worldwide are home to at least one RMHC core program. RMHC provides more than 2.2 million overnight stays annually, helping families save nearly over $611 million in lodging and meal expenses.

Every sandwich-sized plastic bag filled with tabs = 30 minutes of service. A gallon plastic bag filled with tabs = 5 hours of service! There are collection bins in the Mountainlair’s Vandalia Lounge, Rec Center lobby and one in the Health Sciences Center (in the hallway near chick fi la.)

The Meals from the Heart program allows volunteers to use our double-sided kitchen to provide meals, either breakfast, lunch, or dinner for our families. Volunteers must provide all of the ingredients needed for the meal but are welcome to use the equipment in the kitchen. Meal prep can provide a variety of ideal experiences for volunteer groups of all ages. The Morgantown History Museum became the first city-sponsored museum in the county with a mission to collect, record, and preserve artifacts and information related to Monongalia County throughout its history and to share it with museum visitors. We are often in need of assistance with the following tasks:

Help adults reach their personal, professional, and educational goals by improving their English or basic literacy skills. As a tutor, you'll meet with your learner for at least one hour a week and report their progress monthly.

No experience? No problem! We provide Pro-Literacy training, materials, and lesson plans to get you started. Once trained, you'll be a certified Pro-Literacy tutor!

This is for a volunteer income tax preparer position. We have locations in Morgantown, Fairmont, Preston County, Clarksburg and several other locations throughout the state. We prepare basic income taxes for low to moderate income families. 

This is a great way to serve local communities and to keep tax refund money within the community. 

It can be in person or remote. It is practical experience preparing taxes. You will learn about basic income tax preparation during the course of this. 

The timeframe is late January to Early April, approximately 4-5 hours weekly for a ten-week period. 

We provide the training and equipment; you provide the time. 

Looking for experienced or inexperienced bike mechanics, anyone willing to learn or just help out and arrange things, get parts, clean bikes, general help.

The City of Morgantown has announced the launch of its Adopt-A-Street program, a collaborative initiative between the Engineering and Public Works and Development Services departments.

The program is focused on maintaining clean and beautiful streets throughout the city. This initiative invites volunteers, organizations, and businesses to take an active role in maintaining Morgantown communities. To participate, interested groups or individuals must submit an affidavit confirming their commitment to the program.

Upon approval, a sign will be installed along the adopted street, displaying the adopter's name. To qualify for a sign, adopters must complete a minimum of four cleanups each year. It is important to note that the program pertains only to rights-of-way maintained by the City of Morgantown.

Guidelines for Participants:

- Trash Bags and Safety Gear: Volunteers are responsible for providing their own trash bags. It is recommended that participants wear gloves and safety vests. Traffic safety vests can be borrowed from the City of Morgantown's new tool lending library, named the Morgantown Tool Outreach Toolbox (MO.T.O) by calling 304-241-3116, and can be picked up at the City Garage located at 200 M-Tec Drive, Morgantown, WV 26501.

- Litter Removal: Volunteers are tasked with removing litter from the public right-of-way. Any hazardous or unsightly conditions on private property should be reported to the Development Services Department – Building Permits and Code Enforcement Division by using Morgantown's 311 mobile app.

- Garbage Disposal: Bagged, nonhazardous garbage may be left curbside along the adopted street. To arrange for collection, the Public Works Department should be contacted at 304-291-7465, ideally 1-2 days prior to the cleanup.

- Activity Reporting: After completing a cleanup, participants should report their activity to Community Development Services Coordinator Caitlyn Lewis at clewis@morgantownwv.gov.

Additionally, adopters must renew their adopted street annually each fall and updated information should be submitted to the city by the end of September each year. Organizations, businesses, and individuals can apply using the City of Morgantown's 311 mobile app.

Volunteers will work on trails, do invasive species removal, clean drainage channels, maintain lawn areas, etc. The program is open to all. It is hard work, but good exercise, and it is much appreciated by the Arboretum’s many users. There is a limit on the number of volunteers that we can accommodate each day, but the program will be ongoing.

We are looking for volunteers who can help act out various institutions that groups and organizations will interact with during the simulation. 

Groups will be faced with daily decisions ranging from how to get the kids to school on time, find or maintain employment, visit the assistance office or church, pay your bills, and keep a roof over your head...all in the span of a few hours. Each 15 minute period of time accounts for exactly one week, and within that week and the three that follow, groups will learn what poverty really looks like and how it can impact every daily decision to be made. 

Poverty Simulations are thought provoking and lead to powerful conversations, and they help us all realize that it takes a community to end poverty.

Volunteers are needed to help with the following parts of the poverty simulation: portraying a community service entity. Our simulations portray people interacting with housing agencies, financial institutions, schools, community health centers, and infrastructure providers. Our volunteer actors will be briefed on their role in the hour prior to the event with instructions on how to effectively act out their part.

Friends of West Virginia University Hospitals will be selecting three individuals for the Musket Mascot Scholarship Award for the 2025 - 2026 school year.  The Musket Mascots will each receive a $ 1,500.00 scholarship award (proceeds subject to tax reporting).

Chosen candidates are expected to perform as Musket and to assist as a handler for Musket at WVU Medicine Children's Hospital and events.  The handler is responsible for helping to put the costume on and remove the costume, helping performer see where they are going, and keeping crowds from overwhelming the performer.

Ronald McDonald House Morgantown is looking for a group of volunteers to bring snacks or activities for our families! These events help alleviate stress and allow our families to spend time together outside of the hospital setting. Some of our events include movie nights, pamper parties, wellness activities, or craft nights. Family participation cannot be guaranteed but you will receive credit for your time regardless!
