Help us brighten our residents rooms.  Paint a small picture on canvas, assemble a floral arrangement, make a craft. Then bring the item to Sundale to help cheer up our residents who have been quarantined.

Our organization takes care of many sick or injured animals. We always need volunteers to drive our cats to their vet appointments or adoption events/foster homes. The dates of this volunteer opportunity will largely depend on the appointment times given to us by vet clinics in the area. 

If the veterinary clinic/foster home is nearby, our volunteers are only expected to spend however long it takes to drive the animals to their destination. You don't have to wait at the clinic. With that being said, we would appreciate it if the same person can both drop off and pick up the animals. 

We also need help picking up donations and supplies.

If anyone has a TRUCK that they would not mind using to help pick up donations that would be very helpful.

Masks are required.

Our organization rescues many cats that need temporary placements. These placements can last from a few days to a few weeks. Our rescue organization can provide all the necessary supplies to host the animals.

If you have the space and availability to host one or several cats, please submit an application through our  Website and sign up on iServe. We need you to sign up through our website because we want to vet our potential fosters before giving them an animal.

Foster parents will be awarded 40 community service hours. Responsibilities include feeding and cleaning after kitties, and socializing them for adoption.

Individual projects such as helping to organize records, making phone calls, and developing protocols. This is a great opportunity to help if you don't have transportation or cannot foster animal.

Looking for Professors in the History Department or Students studying History to work on a local Sports History Project. It is time-sensitive, so please respond as soon as you are available.  This is not First Tee affiliated.

The CASA volunteer’s primary responsibility is to serve as the “eyes and ears” of the Court, gathering information from the child, his/her biological parents, foster parents, teachers, counselors, etc. and make recommendations to the judge as to what is in the child’s best interest.

Advocates generally visit monthly with the child/youth. When the Court appoints a CASA volunteer to work with a child, these visits are just the beginning. The primary role of a Court Appointed Special Advocate is to:

Determine the needs of the child by reading the child’s entire welfare file, connecting with teachers, foster parents, social workers, doctors, mental health professionals, relatives, parents, attorneys– everyone involved in the child’s life throughout the case.

Facilitate social services and community resources to meet the needs of the child.

Advocate for the child’s needs to be met promptly and thoroughly. Write thorough, accurate court reports.

Monitor to ensure team members follow through on meeting the child’s needs.

Be trusted support for the child. In the sea of ever-changing faces, the CASA volunteer is the one person the child knows will keep coming back – each and every week.

There are no educational or professional requirements, but advocates must be 21 years old. Volunteers are carefully screened and receive 30 hours of training before being assigned to children.

Homeward Bound WV is looking for responsible individuals to help care for our adoptable kitties at Pet Works (Suncrest Towne Centre) and for assistance at special events! For Kitty Care, we need a morning person and afternoon/evening person, and the hours are very flexible. Looking for a volunteer that is willing to come to the office the first of every month to address and mail birthday cards to hospice patients. Application, background check, and TB Test are required.

Classroom Assistant

The Country Roads classroom is a vitally important place for our students. What happens in the classroom sets the foundation for our student education and development as independent individuals. Classroom Assistants are an invaluable resource to our students and educational specialists. Classroom Assistant responsibilities include: helping instructors with group activities, providing one-on-one classroom instruction to certain students, assisting students in completing in-class assignments/activities, and assisting students with in-class organization and time management.

Classroom peers may also assist Country Roads students with their homework and after-class activities. Study Hall is scheduled for Thursday 5:30-6:30 pm in Lincoln Hall; however, students have assignments due throughout the week and may benefit from working with a peer mentor. 

Activity Peer

The objective of the Activity Peer is to help facilitate the Country Roads student's understanding and participation in regular campus activities. There are many options available on campus such as concerts or plays at the Creative Arts Center, various sporting events, or different interest groups available that would be meaningful to the students.

On or off-campus clubs and organizations such as fraternities or sororities, student government, and community projects are some more great ways for students to get involved. Many of our students already play musical instruments and have other skills and abilities they want to be able to share. This is a great opportunity for relationships to begin, and for social skills to be modeled and learned. Students may have particular interests or may be completely open to trying new things!

Lunch or Dinner Peer

Eating with peers is always a welcomed activity, prompting relationships to occur spontaneously. This is a good chance for our students to be part of a “real college experience.” Country Roads students will have meal plans and will eat lunch and dinner on campus in the Towers Dining. Country Roads students, individually or in a small groups, are encouraged to adopt a meal on a particular day of the week to serve as lunch or dinner buddies for one or both of these meals.

We're looking for highly motivated and dependable individuals to assist with building our seedling inventory this Spring. Volunteers in this area will be expected to seed, maintain, water/fertilize, and transplant our edible and ornamental plant starts for the upcoming growing season.

Seedlings can quickly experience stress from excess or decreased temperature, moisture, and other factors, making it extremely important to keep a close eye and do daily checks either individually as a team, sometimes twice a day to ensure plant health. 

Volunteers or interns must have a dependable daily/weekly schedule, work well in team environments and commitment to timely completion of tasks. They should able to independently maintain healthy plant cultures in a greenhouse and outdoor setting. Must be able to follow directions, have an acceptable range of mobility, and be able to lift 20+ pounds in order to restock medias and complete other required tasks of the position.

Some training will be provided, and weekly checkins with WVUCFG faculty will be required. Volunteers and interns are also required to maintain a current Agricultural Worker Protection Standard certification, pass Environmental Health and Safety training, and follow all other University and Campus Food Garden policies and procedures. Produce Safety Alliance certification or other Food Safety handler training is a plus, but is not required. 

Volunteers/interns will be interviewed to assess qualifications and suitability for the position, and may be asked to provide credentials or references.

We are looking for experienced gardeners to lead Growing Season 2024 efforts at our Westover Urban Farm, Evansdale Garden, and First Presbyterian Church locations.

Less experienced or new gardeners should keep a look out for other volunteer postings.

Gardeners/farmers should be highly experienced in growing edible and ornamental plants. Produce Safety Alliance training is a huge plus, and other University farm worker and safety trainings will be required. Master Gardener certification is a huge plus, and we are able to assist you in fulfilling requirements for maintaining your certification. Food handlers training is also a plus!

Ability to lift and transport harvested produce to food pantry locations is a huge plus!

If interested, there are also opportunities to engage in youth and community development activities, like workshops, seminars, and other special events at the Urban Farm.

Responsibilities:

-Seedling care (watering, fertilizing, uppotting)

-Transplanting

-Regular garden maintenance (weeding, trellising, watering, amendments)

-Maintain plant and soil health, providing both preventative and reactive maintenance by identifying pests, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and site security issues and notifying leadership as soon as possible to remediate. 

-Maintenance of compost piles (turning, watering, monitoring temperature, adding waste, etc)

-Willingness to assist in general site maintenance to ability (mowing, weedeating, fence installation/repair, assistance with greenhouse operations, etc). 

This position may require heavy lifting, although as a social justice entity, we welcome all individuals of differing abilities and are willing to make accommodations, as needed. As an industrial site, this location may present challenges to those experiencing limited mobility, so we appreciate notification of any accommodations you may need and discussion in advance.

The College of Creative Arts is looking for volunteer ushers to enhance the patron experience for performances, presentations and special events. Ushers arrive before the venue opens to the public to receive their assignment for the day and any special training needed. Then, under the direction of the house manager, ushers greet guests, scan tickets, help patrons to their seats, answer questions, and ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all in attendance.

The City of Morgantown has announced the launch of its Adopt-A-Street program, a collaborative initiative between the Engineering and Public Works and Development Services departments.

The program is focused on maintaining clean and beautiful streets throughout the city. This initiative invites volunteers, organizations, and businesses to take an active role in maintaining Morgantown communities. To participate, interested groups or individuals must submit an affidavit confirming their commitment to the program.

Upon approval, a sign will be installed along the adopted street, displaying the adopter's name. To qualify for a sign, adopters must complete a minimum of four cleanups each year. It is important to note that the program pertains only to rights-of-way maintained by the City of Morgantown.

Guidelines for Participants:

- Trash Bags and Safety Gear: Volunteers are responsible for providing their own trash bags. It is recommended that participants wear gloves and safety vests. Traffic safety vests can be borrowed from the City of Morgantown's new tool lending library, named the Morgantown Tool Outreach Toolbox (MO.T.O) by calling 304-241-3116, and can be picked up at the City Garage located at 200 M-Tec Drive, Morgantown, WV 26501.

- Litter Removal: Volunteers are tasked with removing litter from the public right-of-way. Any hazardous or unsightly conditions on private property should be reported to the Development Services Department – Building Permits and Code Enforcement Division by using Morgantown's 311 mobile app.

- Garbage Disposal: Bagged, nonhazardous garbage may be left curbside along the adopted street. To arrange for collection, the Public Works Department should be contacted at 304-291-7465, ideally 1-2 days prior to the cleanup.

- Activity Reporting: After completing a cleanup, participants should report their activity to Community Development Services Coordinator Caitlyn Lewis at clewis@morgantownwv.gov.

Additionally, adopters must renew their adopted street annually each fall and updated information should be submitted to the city by the end of September each year. Organizations, businesses, and individuals can apply using the City of Morgantown's 311 mobile app.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Morgantown & Pittsburgh collected pop tabs annually to support their mission, a world where all children have access to medical care, and pledge never to turn a family away who cannot afford to stay. Pop tabs annually generate between $5000-$8000 for RMHC! The tabs are collected and recycled into cash!

WVU is stepping up to collect tabs campus-wide and support our local RMHC, which is located directly next to the Health Sciences Campus & WVU Hospitals.

RMHC ensures that families are supported and actively involved in their children’s medical care. RMHC's are located near top children’s hospitals, allowing parents who are far from home to stay close to their hospitalized child and benefit from the comforts of home without incurring hotel and food costs. 90% of top children’s hospitals worldwide are home to at least one RMHC core program. RMHC provides more than 2.2 million overnight stays annually, helping families save nearly over $611 million in lodging and meal expenses.

Every sandwich-sized plastic bag filled with tabs = 30 minutes of service. A gallon plastic bag filled with tabs = 5 hours of service! There are collection bins in the Mountainlair’s Vandalia Lounge, Rec Center lobby and one in the Health Sciences Center (in the hallway near chick fi la.)

Students must submit their hours to this iServe inactive and send a photograph of their collected tabs to receive service hours donations. To verify your service hours, students must submit a picture of their donated tabs before placing them in the respective bin. Please ensure the donation box and number of bags are visible in the submitted picture.

Reach Out and Read is a nonprofit organization that promotes early childhood literacy by integrating literacy into healthcare. Reading to younger children supports healthy cognitive and language development. Kappa Psi is working to collect donations for Reach Out & Read and collect books to donate to local pediatric clinics to give opportunities to local caregivers to read to their children.

The 5K is scheduled for April 25th, 2026 at the Student Recreation Center (2001 Rec Center Dr). Entry for the 5K is $5 or a donation of a children's book per participant. Please be at the Student Recreation Center by 9:30 AM for check-in as the walk/run will begin at 10 AM. This is not a chip-timed race.

This volunteer position would be helping to develop the overall board and oversight of a new, grassroots initiative called the Northstar Nature Club. Our goal would be to engage and empower individuals to appreciate, protect, and enjoy the natural environment.

The position of the Treasurer of the board would manage all financial affairs of the Club, including preparing budgets, maintaining financial records, and issuing financial reports. They would also collects dues and donations and disburses funds with Executive Board approval.

This volunteer position would be helping to develop the overall board and oversight of a new, grassroots initiative called the Northstar Nature Club. Our goal would be to engage and empower individuals to appreciate, protect, and enjoy the natural environment.

The position of the Secretary of the board would record and preserve the official minutes of all meetings. They would also maintains Club records, membership rosters, and manage official correspondence.

This volunteer position would be helping to develop the overall board and oversight of a new, grassroots initiative called the Northstar Nature Club. Our goal would be to engage and empower individuals to appreciate, protect, and enjoy the natural environment.

The position of the Chief Communication Officer of the board would oversee all Club communications, including newsletters, social media, and public relations efforts. Ensures timely and accurate dissemination of information to members and the public.

This volunteer position would be helping to develop the overall board and oversight of a new, grassroots initiative called the Northstar Nature Club. Our goal would be to engage and empower individuals to appreciate, protect, and enjoy the natural environment.

The position of the Chief Tactical Officer of the board would assist in the planning and safe execution of outdoor and field activities. They would ensure safety and preparedness for all legal and security aspects of Club events and members.

This volunteer position would be helping to develop the overall board and oversight of a new, grassroots initiative called the Northstar Nature Club. Our goal would be to engage and empower individuals to appreciate, protect, and enjoy the natural environment.

The position of the Chief Engineering Officer of the board would maintain the Club’s equipment and gear and provide technical advice for Club initiatives.

This volunteer position would be helping to develop the overall board and oversight of a new, grassroots initiative called the Northstar Nature Club. Our goal would be to engage and empower individuals to appreciate, protect, and enjoy the natural environment.

The position of the Chief Science Officer of the board would oversee scientific education and research initiatives within the Club. They would also coordinate citizen science projects and ensures scientific integrity in outreach efforts.

The Alzheimer’s Association West Virginia Chapter is seeking a creative and motivated Graphic Design & Social Media Volunteer to help raise awareness, support community events, and contribute to the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.

What You’ll Do

This volunteer need is for people to log hours from Red Cross service club when they volunteer at Sundale Nursing Home for bingo. 

We need your help! Come join the Buzz Brigade and work alongside members of the WVU Sustainable Landscapes Committee to tidy up pollinator gardens across campus. Volunteers are needed to help hand pull weeds and clear debris from gardens. Volunteers are reminded to wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.

We're running a toy drive for foster youth in the EDIFY program at KVC West Virginia. These toys are used to reward children for trying their best in school and encourage them to stay in school. KVC's EDIFY program serves children aged 6 - 18. Help us make a difference!

IMPORTANT: To log your donation, please log 30 MINUTES PER TOY. You must also provide a description of the toy that you donated (ex. Barbie Vet Clinic, orange Bluey car toy, Baby doll in pink floral dress, etc.)

Volunteers are needed for the 2026 Stamp Out Hunger food drive! Join the United Way and the United States Postal Service for this nationwide day of service, where community members across the country set out nonperishable food donations for mail carriers to collect and deliver to local food pantries. Volunteers will play an important role in supporting this effort by helping to sort and manage incoming donations and assisting mail carriers to ensure collections run smoothly without disrupting their regular routes. Be part of this powerful nationwide initiative and help make a direct impact in the fight against food insecurity. Join us for a meaningful day of giving back to the community!

Shift Information:

Runners (12-4pm)

Runners will meet at the postal annex and play a key role in keeping collections moving efficiently throughout the day. Volunteers in this role will drive designated routes to locate mail carriers, help unload donated food from their trucks, and transport it back to the annex. This role is perfect for those who are comfortable driving, enjoy being on the move, and want to support the smooth flow of donations from collection to distribution.

Annex Support Team (12-5pm)

Volunteers stationed at the annex will serve as the central hub of the operation. This team will receive food donations from both mail carriers and runners, then sort, organize, and evenly distribute items among participating food pantries. This role is ideal for those who enjoy hands-on work, teamwork, and helping ensure donations are distributed fairly and efficiently.

Extended Support Team (2-7pm)

In addition to assisting with sorting and organizing donations at the annex, this team will stay later in the day to help complete the final stage of distribution. Volunteers will help load and transport food to local pantries, ensuring donations reach their final destinations. This role is great for those who are available for a longer shift and want to see the full impact of their efforts from start to finish.

The Ronald McDonald House Morgantown is looking for volunteers to cook meals for our families. The Meals from the Heart program allows volunteers to use our double-sided kitchen to provide meals, either breakfast, lunch, or dinner for our families. Volunteers must provide all of the ingredients needed for the meal but are welcome to use the equipment in the kitchen. Meal prep can provide a variety of ideal experiences for volunteer groups of all ages. Whether you are seeking team building experience for employees, a learning experience for an eager scout troop or are just looking for an opportunity to give back in your community; Meals from the Heart can suit your needs.

If you are looking for reoccurring volunteer hours every week, look no further than the Ronald McDonald House Morgantown! We are searching for dedicated individuals to participate in our housewarming program. Volunteers are needed to help us take care of our house and our families! Some of the activities include:

1.      Cleaning family rooms and common spaces.

2.      Sorting and cleaning out the pantry and kitchen.

3.      Helping to organize various storage closets.

4.       Making welcome bags.

5.      Greeting guest families.

Volunteers are expected to work at least 15 hours a week and go through a short orientation before their first shift. Volunteer hours are available from 9am to 9pm, 7 days a week. Additional Information:

1.      You must be above the age of 18 and must complete both an application and a criminal background check before signing up for a shift.

2.      Two-hour shifts equal two credit hours and if documentation is needed for a class or program, it must be signed by either the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator or the Family Services Director.

Ronald McDonald House Morgantown is looking for a group of volunteers to bring snacks or activities for our families! These events help alleviate stress and allow our families to spend time together outside of the hospital setting. Some of our events include movie nights, pamper parties, wellness activities, or craft nights. Family participation cannot be guaranteed but you will receive credit for your time regardless!

1.      Volunteer groups should consist of 2 to 6 people. For more information on group sizing please contact Jillian Bratton, the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator.

Sundale needs volunteers to answer the phones on evenings to make sure the residents never miss an important phone call from a family.

We need students or volunteers who are interested in coming in and providing activities for the residents.

Volunteers are needed to help nursing home residents with simple art projects and crafts. 

We also appreciate volunteers who make decorations for our residents' rooms and hallways.

Scan and store documents

We need donations of in-room activities for residents such as easy craft kits, large print puzzles and books, coloring books and crayons, etc.

Perform music, throw a party, set up a BINGO game, etc.  Volunteers are needed to plan and carry out group activities.

We are looking for a volunteer to visit/chat with a resident who speaks Italian.

Volunteers needed to help organize activity supplies in storage.

We need dancers, musicians, actors to perform for our residents.  Great way to practice in front of grateful audince.

Weekly Masjid Clean up every Wednesday and Thursday 

Clean Up for the weekly Friday Prayer! Volunteers are needed every Wednesday and Thursday to clean up the mosque. We need your help! Come join the Buzz Brigade and work alongside members of the WVU Sustainable Landscapes Committee to tidy up the pollinator garden near the Life Sciences Building. Volunteers are needed to help hand pull weeds and clear debris from garden. Helpers are reminded to wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. 

Help with cutting and folding weekly programs and mailings, as well as greeting people entering the church and helping the communications director manage incoming phone calls. 

Volunteer will assist and/or teach children ages 4-10. Lessons and crafts will be provided. Volunteers will complete Safe Sanctuaries training prior to being placed with children.

Suncrest United Methodist Church is seeking a creative and enthusiastic West Virginia University student to join our team as a Social Media & Marketing Coordinator Volunteer. This part-time volunteer position (8-10 hours per week) offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital marketing, content creation, and community engagement while supporting the church’s mission to connect with and serve the Morgantown community.

Key Responsibilities:

Website Management: Maintain and update the Suncrest United Methodist Church website to ensure it remains welcoming, informative, and reflective of current church activities, events, and ministries.

Social Media Content Creation & Management: Develop and post engaging content across multiple platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter), to celebrate church events, share community outreach efforts, and promote upcoming opportunities.

Church App Updates: Regularly update the church’s mobile app with relevant content, including event schedules, sermons, and community announcements to enhance user engagement.

Marketing & Outreach: Collaborate with church staff to create and distribute marketing materials (digital and print) that highlight church programs, community service initiatives, and special events.

Community Engagement: Use social media to foster connections with the Morgantown community, including WVU students, by sharing inspiring stories, event invitations, and updates about the church’s role in the community.

Qualifications:

Current student at West Virginia University, preferably in marketing, communications, graphic design, or a related field.

Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X) and a keen interest in digital marketing trends.

Basic knowledge of website management tools (e.g., WordPress or similar platforms) or willingness to learn.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with an eye for creative storytelling.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a faith-based environment.

Graphic design or video editing skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools) are a plus.

Passion for community engagement and alignment with the mission of Suncrest United Methodist Church.

Mural has been projected and traced onto the walls in "The Neighborhood" children's and youth space.  Artistic volunteers are needed to paint the mural's animals.  

We are looking for tutors in our 9th/10th grade technical writing class as well as our Pre-Algebra Class.  If you feel competent in either area, please volunteer below.

Both classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:30 to 3:00.

West Virginia Academy is looking for an afterschool coach for our PreK through 5th graders.  We want to offer a sports class to help our youngest scholars get active and moving afterschool.  If you are interested, please sign up below.

We are flexible on when these classes are offered but afterschool is from 3:00 - 5:30 on weekdays.

Students who would like to experience service through presenting to donate blood will have the opportunity to earn two (2) community service hours. If a student is not eligible to donate, they will be given the opportunity to volunteer at that site for the same number of hours.
