Volunteer Needs From: WVU Center for Community Engagement

Volunteer: Swim Meet Lane Timer

As a lane timer, you are responsible for recording the swimmer's time each race. Each timer is provided a stopwatch and assigned a lane; there are two timers assigned to each lane as well as one back-up timer. All times are recorded, and the average time becomes the official time in the event of a technical malfunction. There will be a timer's meeting at 11:40 AM the day of the event and you are allowed to leave as soon as the event has concluded. Timers are given the best view of the pool and the swimmers during their races!
