Volunteer Needs From: WVU Center for Community Engagement

The Mount Hope Alumni Regional Band is a heritage show band based in Mount Hope, West Virginia, welcoming members from across Southern West Virginia, including the Beckley Campus of West Virginia University, as well as Mount Hope, Glen Jean, Hill Top, Odd, and Princeton. Our mission is to unite the Southern West Virginia community through the power of our shared musical heritage. We welcome musicians from all locations and do not turn away anyone who shares our passion for music.

Tasks:

Practice musical instrument performances individually or in rehearsals with other musicians to perfect individual pieces or improve skills. Perform live before audiences in concerts, recitals, educational presentations, and other social gatherings. Specialize in playing specific families of instruments or particular types of music. Play musical instruments as soloists, members, or guest artists of musical groups such as orchestras, ensembles, or bands. Sight-read musical parts during rehearsals.

Detailed Work Activities:

Practice athletic or artistic skills. Perform music for the public. Analyze musical compositions in detail. Train others in performance techniques. Audition for roles.

The Mount Hope Alumni Regional Band is a heritage show band based out of Mount Hope, West Virginia. The band's membership is made up from community members from Mount Hope, Glen Jean, Hill Top, Beckley, Odd, and Princeton. It is our goal to unite the communities of Southern West Virginia through the connection of our shared musical heritage. We accept members on a rolling basis and are always looking to expand our family.
