Silent Witness (SiWi) is an exhibit of life-sized silhouettes of West Virginians murdered by domestic violence. Each October the exhibit is displayed, often with an accompany resource fair. Help set-up or remove the exhibit. Help organizing the resource fair. 

Check and document amenities and condition of lactation rooms across campus. Update WVU Lactation website content, app listing lactation rooms on campus, or both. Develop flyers or education materials.

In the spirit of the season, APBP invites you to an all-hands-on-deck the halls Holiday Wrapping Party on Saturday, December 13th! We will be wrapping up our annual Giving Tuesday fundraiser: Sponsor an Incarcerated Reader, and are eager to send the books acquired through this fundraiser to learners spending the holiday season in prisons and jails across Appalachia. Please consider helping us brighten the holidays of a bookworm behind bars by wrapping books and writing holiday messages to incarcerated readers.

While this event is open to everyone, please note: first-time volunteers must complete our New Volunteer Training before volunteering independently at the Aull Center. Wrapping parties are a great way to get involved, but they don’t replace training.

Join us to make handmade cards and assemble goodie bags for WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital!

This volunteer opportunity will involve shelving 4-H project booklets in the distribution room and pulling orders for 4-H project books to send to WV county Extension Offices. 

Run a stopwatch and record times for swimmers during the swim meet at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park. Multiple shifts available.

Help Libera assemble care totes for middle school girls in WV. Volunteer duties may include crafting our "Listen" bracelets, writing an encouraging letter for a middle school girl, or helping put together the care totes. Volunteers help keep the WVU Core Arboretum beautiful, and you can be a part of the crew each Thursday from 2:00 pm-5:00 pm!

Volunteers will work on trails, do invasive species removal, clean drainage channels, maintain lawn areas, etc. The program is open to all. It is hard work, but good exercise, and it is much appreciated by the Arboretum’s many users. There is a limit on the number of volunteers that we can accommodate each day, but the program will be ongoing.

Morgantown Public Library will be participating in the Morgantown Christmas Parade 2025, on Wednesday, December 10 at 6:00 pm. We will have candy to hand out to the kids as we go down High Street.
You may dress as your favorite storybook character. We have costumes available that you can choose to wear during the parade. Costumes are optional and not required to participate. We would ask that you come to Morgantown Public Library early enough 5:25-5:35 pm to pick a costume and get ready, or come already dressed if you have your own costume. We will be walking up to the library's spot in the parade lineup at approx. 5:45-5:50pm. So we will not have as long a wait to begin our walk down High Street in the parade.

Create personally-designed, patriotic greeting cards as well get well wishes to hospitalized Veterans at the Louis A. Johnson VAMC. These greetings are distributed to Veterans throughout the Medical Center and our Community-Based Outpatient Clinics. 

Patients enjoy colorful artwork and positive messages. This is a way to express your gratitude to our nation's heroes any day of the year!

Welcome WVU students and faculty!  We need your help!  Animal Friends is a 501(c)(3) non profit with a mission to save animals from euthanasia.  We operate a thrift shoppe in Morgantown that funds the operation of our no kill shelter.  Items are donated from the community and processed for sale in our shoppe.  As you can imagine, this takes a lot of work!  We are accepting volunteers on Tuesday 11-5, Thursday and Friday 11-3 and Saturday 10-3.  Your help would be so appreciated.   Help is needed to sort and clean donations, tag clothes, assist cashiers, arranging displays and pricing and a variety of other jobs.  See you at the shoppe?

Join us for a heartwarming event!

On Thursday, December 4th, roughly 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Agricultural Sciences Building Room G06, WVU PAWS is helping construct cat shelters with Mountaineers 4 Mutts! These cat shelters will be made from Rubbermaid totes, foam insulation and straw, and will help provide a warm, safe space for feral cats throughout the cold winter months.

In this meeting, we are packing bags for Holidays for Heroes at the Red Cross Office @ 5:30pm.

Join the PAWS Club at Marion County Humane Society on Saturday, December 6th from 9 AM - 12 PM to volunteer! We will be helping the Marion County Humane Society with cleaning their facility and socializing with the animals. This is a great opportunity to help the shelter and build a community within the PAWS Club.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Morgantown & Pittsburgh collected pop tabs annually to support their mission, a world where all children have access to medical care, and pledge never to turn a family away who cannot afford to stay. Pop tabs annually generate between $5000-$8000 for RMHC! The tabs are collected and recycled into cash!

WVU is stepping up to collect tabs campus-wide and support our local RMHC, which is located directly next to the Health Sciences Campus & WVU Hospitals.

RMHC ensures that families are supported and actively involved in their children’s medical care. RMHC's are located near top children’s hospitals, allowing parents who are far from home to stay close to their hospitalized child and benefit from the comforts of home without incurring hotel and food costs. 90% of top children’s hospitals worldwide are home to at least one RMHC core program. RMHC provides more than 2.2 million overnight stays annually, helping families save nearly over $611 million in lodging and meal expenses.

Every sandwich-sized plastic bag filled with tabs = 30 minutes of service. A gallon plastic bag filled with tabs = 5 hours of service! There are collection bins in the Mountainlair’s Vandalia Lounge, Rec Center lobby and one in the Health Sciences Center (in the hallway near chick fi la.)

Students must submit their hours to this iServe inactive and send a photograph of their collected tabs to receive service hours donations. To verify your service hours, students must submit a picture of their donated tabs before placing them in the respective bin. Please ensure the donation box and number of bags are visible in the submitted picture.

Join us in making the season brighter for local seniors. We are seeking volunteer drivers to help deliver holiday meals in Morgantown. Volunteers must provide their own transportation, and teams are welcome to register and ride together.

We are seeking dedicated volunteers to support local children with foundational academic skills in reading, spelling, and math at the Salvation Army Red Shield Youth Center of Beckley. This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who enjoys working with kids and wants to make a meaningful impact after school.

Graduate students are needed to serve as judges at the 8th Annual Fall Undergraduate Research Symposium scheduled to take place from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Mountainlair. Be a part of Morgantown's Friday night arts scene by volunteering for First Friday! This free gallery crawl brings local businesses and artists in Downtown Morgantown together to showcase our vibrant arts community. Volunteers will assist First Friday locations with a variety of tasks, such as checking people in, taking photos of exhibitions, and manning information tables. 

The WVU Pre-Dental Club is hosting a Dental Hygiene Drive to promote oral health and provide essential hygiene items to those in need. We’re collecting toothbrushes and toothpaste only — no floss will be accepted.

4 items = 1 service hour
(An “item” is determined by packaging — for example, one multi-pack of toothbrushes counts as one item.)

Toothpaste must have a 2027 expiration date or later.

A Poverty Simulation is a true-to-life role-playing experience for groups and organizations to experience first-hand the challenges, decisions, and life of someone in poverty. We are looking for volunteers who can help act out various institutions that groups and organizations will interact with during the simulation. 

Groups will be faced with daily decisions ranging from how to get the kids to school on time, find or maintain employment, visit the assistance office or church, pay your bills, and keep a roof over your head...all in the span of a few hours. Each 15 minute period of time accounts for exactly one week, and within that week and the three that follow, groups will learn what poverty really looks like and how it can impact every daily decision to be made. 

Poverty Simulations are thought provoking and lead to powerful conversations, and they help us all realize that it takes a community to end poverty.

Volunteers are needed to help with the following parts of the poverty simulation: portraying a community service entity. Our simulations portray people interacting with housing agencies, financial institutions, schools, community health centers, and infrastructure providers. Our volunteer actors will be briefed on their role in the hour prior to the event with instructions on how to effectively act out their part. 

Your time commitment for this opportunity is 3 hours. All simulations will occur at the WVU Health Sciences Center.  More information will be provided to you via email 1 week prior to the simulation. We thank you in advance for your time and commitment!

We’re looking for volunteers to help us install brand-new signs at key drop-in and take-out locations along the trail. Below is a sign example. The Ronald McDonald House Morgantown is looking for volunteers to cook meals for our families. The Meals from the Heart program allows volunteers to use our double-sided kitchen to provide meals, either breakfast, lunch, or dinner for our families. Volunteers must provide all of the ingredients needed for the meal but are welcome to use the equipment in the kitchen. Meal prep can provide a variety of ideal experiences for volunteer groups of all ages. Help adults reach their personal, professional, and educational goals by improving their English or basic literacy skills. As a tutor, you'll meet with your learner for at least one hour a week and report their progress monthly.

No experience? No problem! We provide Pro-Literacy training, materials, and lesson plans to get you started. Once trained, you'll be a certified Pro-Literacy tutor!

This is for a volunteer income tax preparer position. We have locations in Morgantown, Fairmont, Preston County, Clarksburg and several other locations throughout the state. We prepare basic income taxes for low to moderate income families. 

This is a great way to serve local communities and to keep tax refund money within the community. 

It can be in person or remote. It is practical experience preparing taxes. You will learn about basic income tax preparation during the course of this. 

The timeframe is late January to Early April, approximately 4-5 hours weekly for a ten-week period. 

We provide the training and equipment; you provide the time. 

Looking for experienced or inexperienced bike mechanics, anyone willing to learn or just help out and arrange things, get parts, clean bikes, general help.

The City of Morgantown has announced the launch of its Adopt-A-Street program, a collaborative initiative between the Engineering and Public Works and Development Services departments.

The program is focused on maintaining clean and beautiful streets throughout the city. This initiative invites volunteers, organizations, and businesses to take an active role in maintaining Morgantown communities. To participate, interested groups or individuals must submit an affidavit confirming their commitment to the program.

Upon approval, a sign will be installed along the adopted street, displaying the adopter's name. To qualify for a sign, adopters must complete a minimum of four cleanups each year. It is important to note that the program pertains only to rights-of-way maintained by the City of Morgantown.

Guidelines for Participants:

- Trash Bags and Safety Gear: Volunteers are responsible for providing their own trash bags. It is recommended that participants wear gloves and safety vests. Traffic safety vests can be borrowed from the City of Morgantown's new tool lending library, named the Morgantown Tool Outreach Toolbox (MO.T.O) by calling 304-241-3116, and can be picked up at the City Garage located at 200 M-Tec Drive, Morgantown, WV 26501.

- Litter Removal: Volunteers are tasked with removing litter from the public right-of-way. Any hazardous or unsightly conditions on private property should be reported to the Development Services Department – Building Permits and Code Enforcement Division by using Morgantown's 311 mobile app.

- Garbage Disposal: Bagged, nonhazardous garbage may be left curbside along the adopted street. To arrange for collection, the Public Works Department should be contacted at 304-291-7465, ideally 1-2 days prior to the cleanup.

- Activity Reporting: After completing a cleanup, participants should report their activity to Community Development Services Coordinator Caitlyn Lewis at clewis@morgantownwv.gov.

Additionally, adopters must renew their adopted street annually each fall and updated information should be submitted to the city by the end of September each year. Organizations, businesses, and individuals can apply using the City of Morgantown's 311 mobile app.

We need dancers, musicians, actors to perform for our residents.  Great way to practice in front of grateful audince.
