This free, 1.5-hour, online training helps first responders assist individuals with mental illness or substance use disorder who are in crisis using safe, positive approaches.

Once you complete the training, you must 1) email your completion certificate to cem0004@mix.wvu.edu and 2) record your completion of this need in your iServe account. One volunteer hour will be approved within one week of your iServe submission and receipt of your completion certificate. 

1. Demographic survey: designed to collect demographic information such as age, gender, race/ethnicity, occupation, etc. 

2. Pre-program Survey (Pre-test): designed to evaluate your knowledge of opioids, naloxone, and the relationship between these two drugs. We are also interested in assessing what you may already know about the different forms of naloxone that are approved here in the state of West Virginia. This test consists of twenty questions and should take around 5-10 minutes to complete. 

3. Naloxone Training: consisting of three (3) video modules describing how to use the three of types of naloxone approved in West Virginia. All three video trainings will equip you with important information relating to naloxone and how to use this drug to save a life.  The learning objectives for this training include:

This free, 1-hour, online training addresses the mental and physical stressors faced by first responders when responding to opioid overdose calls and provides evidence-based coping strategies and resources to mitigate the impacts of these stressful events.

Help with whatever project or goal is set for the day: hanging & sorting clothing, data entry, bagging bread/produce, getting special needs, cleaning, front desk registration, food pantry, career closets, etc. 

Hours of Operation: Monday through Thursday, 9 am-4 pm; Friday, 9 am-2 pm. Hours are flexible as needed/classes dictate.        

Our 6th annual Veterans Bash will take place on October 3rd at Mylan Park.  This year, we are going to bring the volunteers in at 9 am.  The doors will open at 11 am, and the main drawings will start at 1 pm.  The bash is also an event where multiple raffles will be going on at the same time.  Some volunteers will be responsible for restocking items, while the majority will be on the floor selling chances for various games throughout the event. We bring everyone in early so that all volunteers receive clear direction and can ask any questions they may have about their assigned tasks. The event will be catered, so the only tasks are to refill the coffee pots, drink bins, and snacks.  All food and drink are provided for volunteers.  Volunteers are also welcome to work as many hours as they like, because the bash goes until 6 pm.  We don't expect everyone to work the entire day; we prefer that the volunteers do at least 4 hours.  If some volunteers would prefer to come in the afternoon, we can accommodate them as well.

Libera does vision boards with youth and young women during our peer support groups to help them envision a future living out their true potential. Help us build our magazine collection! 

Volunteer hours will be awarded based on the amount of magazines brought. Volunteers can earn a max of 3 hours determined by their contributions: 10 magazines = 1 hour, 20 = 2 hours, and 30+ = 3 hours.

Welcome WVU students and faculty!  We need your help!  Animal Friends is a 501(c)(3) non profit with a mission to save animals from euthanasia.  We operate a thrift shoppe in Morgantown that funds the operation of our no kill shelter.  Items are donated from the community and processed for sale in our shoppe.  As you can imagine, this takes a lot of work!  We are accepting volunteers on Tuesday 11-5, Thursday and Friday 11-3 and Saturday 10-3.  Your help would be so appreciated.   Help is needed to sort and clean donations, tag clothes, assist cashiers, arranging displays and pricing and a variety of other jobs.  See you at the shoppe?

Alpha Omega Epsilon will be providing dinner for the residents at the Rosembaum house. Shifts will include setup, serving dinner, and clean up. 

Help support Bingo Night, the 3rd Friday of every month! This event supports Senior Mons, a nonprofit that supports older adults in Monongalia County by ensuring they have transportation, in home support, and access to meals.

Volunteers should plan to arrive to the Mountaineer Mall (5000 Greenbag Rd Morgantown WV) between 12:15 and 12:30 pm. Bingo begins at 1:30 pm! 

Volunteers assist with a variety of activities including selling raffle tickets, assisting with concession sales/food runner, monitoring the players for any needs/calling back bingo numbers, cleaning up, etc. Please wear good walking shoes! 

Honoring First Responders and Veterans-over 90 organizations involved-volunteers can assist with parking direction, assisting vendors set up, clean up after event, and sign-in registration-arrive around 8:30am, can also arrive at 2pm if assisting with clean-up-putting tables and chairs away.

Help unload a semi-truck full of pumpkins for a local fall pumpkin patch and festival! Pizza Al's provided for all who help! 

Volunteers will assist guests with choosing, purchasing, moving, and loading pumpkins into their vehicles.  The patch is located in Suncrest, directly across from the WVU Alumni Center.  The pumpkin patch proceeds support children's and youth programs.

It's the first meeting of the semester! WOO! We are gonna discuss plans for the semester, including events and blood drives.

This project supports a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for children and families visiting the Monongalia County Child Advocacy Center. Volunteers will sanitize toys used throughout the facility to help reduce the spread of germs and maintain health and safety standards.

Toy sanitation will take place Friday, October 2 from 11am-1pm. Responsibilities include collecting toys from designated areas, cleaning and disinfecting them, inspecting items for damage or wear, and organizing toys in their appropriate locations.

By ensuring that toys are regularly cleaned and maintained, volunteers contribute to creating a safe, comfortable, and child-friendly space that promotes healing and positive experiences for the children served by the center

WVU Athletic Operations is seeking students to assist in game play support for home women's soccer games this season at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. Volunteers will retrieve balls that are kicked out of bounds and return them to the field and provide additional setup and tear down help as needed. This is a great way to be close to the action and show your support for the Mountaineers, while also gaining volunteer experience.

Arrival
- Please arrive 30-minutes prior to the start of the match. The match will begin at 3:00pm.

- WVU t-shirt if you have one, or solid color shirt (preferably gold or blue).
- Coats/hats/gloves are acceptable during cold weather or rainy games.

Volunteer will assist the regular pre-K teacher with children's church. Lessons and crafts will be provided. Volunteers will complete Safe Sanctuaries training prior to being placed with children. SUMC will run a free background check on all children's volunteers.

Lewis County Mutual Aid is looking for volunteers to work at the distribution center at Market Place Mall, Weston (284 Market Place Mall, Weston, WV).

Volunteers are helping to intake and sort donations, greet people, share resources and encourage folks to fill out the FEMA survey.

Hours are Monday - Friday 9 am - 5 pm daily with the exception of weekends, when they are closed. You do not need to be able to stay for the entirety of a shift to volunteer.

We are seeking caring and dependable volunteers to make weekly courtesy calls to approximately 15 to 20 hospice patients. These friendly check-in calls help ensure patients have the support, supplies, and resources they need before the weekend while also providing meaningful social interaction and connection. Masjid cleaning

Join the City of Morgantown and take part in our 2026 Fall Clean-Up Day on Saturday, September 19. The event will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with participants working at various locations across downtown Morgantown and surrounding areas.

Volunteers will assist with litter pickup, median maintenance, brush clearing and other beautification efforts.

Participants are asked to gather at Chancery Row, next to the Monongalia County Courthouse, where they will receive a brief safety orientation before heading to assigned cleanup sites.

"This is a great opportunity to not only clean up some of the main corridors of our downtown, but also meet new people, work together, and engage with others in the community," said Community Development Manager Caitlyn Lewis.

The city will provide all necessary safety equipment, including vests, gloves and tools. Organizers recommend volunteers wear long sleeves, long pants and sturdy footwear. Participants are also encouraged to bring sunscreen and water.

The event will be held rain or shine, and no prior registration is required.

On September 24th, the Monongalia County Quick Response Team will participate in the nationwide "Save a Life: Free Naloxone Day" event to provide free naloxone and naloxone training. The Monongalia County QRT is currently recruiting volunteers for the nine locations that they'll set up around the county. Naloxone training and other necessary information will be provided to volunteers prior to the event. Volunteers will also receive a Mothman T-shirt designed by a local artist. MESH (Mentoring and Educational Support Hub) is a student-led tutoring initiative that connects WVU graduate student volunteers with middle and high school students who can benefit from additional academic support.

We are recruiting volunteer tutors to support students at the Monongalia County Youth Reporting Center (YRC) in Morgantown. Tutors may assist students in subjects that align with their knowledge and experience, including mathematics, science, engineering, English, writing, social studies, and other middle- and high-school subjects.

Tutoring sessions are held Monday through Friday from 3:00–5:00 p.m. Volunteers are not expected to participate every day and may select the weekday(s) that fit their schedules. Even volunteering for one afternoon per week can provide valuable consistency and academic support for participating students.

MESH tutors help students:

Understand course material and complete academic work

Practice problem-solving and study skills

Prepare for assignments and assessments

Build academic confidence and positive learning habits

Before working directly with youth participants, volunteers must complete all required onboarding and receive clearance. This includes WVU Youth Protection training, the required YRC background check, and MESH orientation. Completing an iServe response does not by itself authorize a volunteer to begin tutoring.

Tutors are expected to follow MESH, YRC, and applicable WVU youth-safety requirements, including maintaining appropriate professional boundaries, meeting supervision requirements, maintaining confidentiality, adhering to approved communication practices, and reporting attendance and hours. MESH's existing operating model similarly requires tutors to complete authorization and onboarding before direct contact with youth.

Who should volunteer?
WVU graduate students from all academic disciplines are encouraged to participate. Prior formal tutoring experience is helpful but not required. We are especially looking for volunteers who are dependable, patient, encouraging, and comfortable helping middle and high school students learn.

Volunteer with the operation of the WV Wine and Jazz Festival at the Hazel Ruby McQuain Amphitheater. Areas possibly working include entrance booth, VIP tent, gate security, or other areas as needed.

Rooftop Observatory Assistant duties include: opening the dome, safely operating the telescope to show a few enjoyable objects in the night sky, and being able to discuss the basics of astronomy and how telescopes work. You also might be asked to help with crowd control management, including greeting guests from the planetarium and walking them to the observatory, and helping to operate doors/elevators to assist guests.

Shifts are typically 3 hours each night. The exact timing varies, but observatory nights are usually Fridays after dusk, anywhere between 6-10 pm. You may be working in groups of 2-3 so that you can learn from and rely on each other. We have public nights, where you will welcome visitors to the observatory after they've seen a public planetarium show. Please note that during events we typically use SMS texting to communicate and you will be required to have the LiveSafe application installed on your mobile device.

Requirements:
You must be enrolled as a student
At least 18 years of age
Be responsible, reliable, and a strong communicator

Please make sure to check in with a CCE staff member (Offices 805E, 805F, 805G, or 805H) when you arrive and leave.

WIC needs assistance in organizing our handouts and educational materials into folders for our Hospital Certification Program.  These folders are given to pregnant and postpartum women to inform them of resources available to them.
