Silent Witness (SiWi) is an exhibit of life-sized silhouettes of West Virginians murdered by domestic violence. Each October the exhibit is displayed, often with an accompany resource fair. Help set-up or remove the exhibit. Help organizing the resource fair. 

Check and document amenities and condition of lactation rooms across campus. Update WVU Lactation website content, app listing lactation rooms on campus, or both. Develop flyers or education materials.

In this meeting, we are packing bags for Holidays for Heroes at the Red Cross Office @ 5:30pm.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Morgantown & Pittsburgh collected pop tabs annually to support their mission, a world where all children have access to medical care, and pledge never to turn a family away who cannot afford to stay. Pop tabs annually generate between $5000-$8000 for RMHC! The tabs are collected and recycled into cash!

WVU is stepping up to collect tabs campus-wide and support our local RMHC, which is located directly next to the Health Sciences Campus & WVU Hospitals.

RMHC ensures that families are supported and actively involved in their children’s medical care. RMHC's are located near top children’s hospitals, allowing parents who are far from home to stay close to their hospitalized child and benefit from the comforts of home without incurring hotel and food costs. 90% of top children’s hospitals worldwide are home to at least one RMHC core program. RMHC provides more than 2.2 million overnight stays annually, helping families save nearly over $611 million in lodging and meal expenses.

Every sandwich-sized plastic bag filled with tabs = 30 minutes of service. A gallon plastic bag filled with tabs = 5 hours of service! There are collection bins in the Mountainlair’s Vandalia Lounge, Rec Center lobby and one in the Health Sciences Center (in the hallway near chick fi la.)

Students must submit their hours to this iServe inactive and send a photograph of their collected tabs to receive service hours donations. To verify your service hours, students must submit a picture of their donated tabs before placing them in the respective bin. Please ensure the donation box and number of bags are visible in the submitted picture.

We are seeking dedicated volunteers to support local children with foundational academic skills in reading, spelling, and math at the Salvation Army Red Shield Youth Center of Beckley. This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who enjoys working with kids and wants to make a meaningful impact after school.

Seeking volunteers able to help homebound hospice patients with light yard work and lawn mowing services. Flexible Schedule. 

Join the Guardians of the West Fork Watershed in enhancing the West Fork River Water Trail! We’re looking for volunteers to help us install brand-new signs at key drop-in and take-out locations along the trail. Below is a sign example. This hands-on project involves some physical labor, like lifting, digging, and mounting signs—but whether you can spare an hour or an afternoon, your time and effort will make a real impact. This is a great way to support river access, meet fellow outdoor lovers, and play a direct role in improving public spaces along the river. No experience needed—just a good attitude and a willingness to roll up your sleeves.

WVU Medicine/WVU Hospitals accepts student volunteers three times per year - spring semester, summer and fall semester.  Each semester will have specific application enrollment periods and students must apply during these times.  We currently place volunteers in 45 different locations throughout Ruby Memorial Hospital and some offsite locations.  If you are interested please review our website at www.wvumedicine.org/volunteers for the next enrollment period before signing up for this need. 

We are looking for volunteers to register as leaders to facilitate/lead Girl Scout Troop meetings afterschool at different Middle schools in Monongalia and Marion Counties.

This is for the Red Cross Club service members to log their hours for volunteering at the Trunk or Treat.

In this meeting, we will be collecting candy donations for track or treat and also deciding on our theme for the event. The sign-up for the event will also be posted to those interested in volunteering. We also have a guest speaker coming in to discuss disaster relief. 

This free, 1-hour, online training addresses the mental and physical stressors faced by first responders when responding to opioid overdose calls and provides evidence-based coping strategies and resources to mitigate the impacts of these stressful events.

9/15 Card Making

The Ronald McDonald House Morgantown is looking for volunteers to cook meals for our families. The Meals from the Heart program allows volunteers to use our double-sided kitchen to provide meals, either breakfast, lunch, or dinner for our families. Volunteers must provide all of the ingredients needed for the meal but are welcome to use the equipment in the kitchen. Meal prep can provide a variety of ideal experiences for volunteer groups of all ages. Whether you are seeking team building experience for employees, a learning experience for an eager scout troop or are just looking for an opportunity to give back in your community; Meals from the Heart can suit your needs.

The Morgantown History Museum became the first city-sponsored museum in the county with a mission to collect, record, and preserve artifacts and information related to Monongalia County throughout its history and to share it with museum visitors. We are often in need of assistance with the following tasks:

This is for a volunteer income tax preparer position. We have locations in Morgantown, Fairmont, Preston County, Clarksburg and several other locations throughout the state. We prepare basic income taxes for low to moderate income families. 

This is a great way to serve local communities and to keep tax refund money within the community. 

It can be in person or remote. It is practical experience preparing taxes. You will learn about basic income tax preparation during the course of this. 

The timeframe is late January to Early April, approximately 4-5 hours weekly for a ten-week period. 

We provide the training and equipment; you provide the time. 

The City of Morgantown has announced the launch of its Adopt-A-Street program, a collaborative initiative between the Engineering and Public Works and Development Services departments.

The program is focused on maintaining clean and beautiful streets throughout the city. This initiative invites volunteers, organizations, and businesses to take an active role in maintaining Morgantown communities. To participate, interested groups or individuals must submit an affidavit confirming their commitment to the program.

Upon approval, a sign will be installed along the adopted street, displaying the adopter's name. To qualify for a sign, adopters must complete a minimum of four cleanups each year. It is important to note that the program pertains only to rights-of-way maintained by the City of Morgantown.

Guidelines for Participants:

- Trash Bags and Safety Gear: Volunteers are responsible for providing their own trash bags. It is recommended that participants wear gloves and safety vests. Traffic safety vests can be borrowed from the City of Morgantown's new tool lending library, named the Morgantown Tool Outreach Toolbox (MO.T.O) by calling 304-241-3116, and can be picked up at the City Garage located at 200 M-Tec Drive, Morgantown, WV 26501.

- Litter Removal: Volunteers are tasked with removing litter from the public right-of-way. Any hazardous or unsightly conditions on private property should be reported to the Development Services Department – Building Permits and Code Enforcement Division by using Morgantown's 311 mobile app.

- Garbage Disposal: Bagged, nonhazardous garbage may be left curbside along the adopted street. To arrange for collection, the Public Works Department should be contacted at 304-291-7465, ideally 1-2 days prior to the cleanup.

- Activity Reporting: After completing a cleanup, participants should report their activity to Community Development Services Coordinator Caitlyn Lewis at clewis@morgantownwv.gov.

Additionally, adopters must renew their adopted street annually each fall and updated information should be submitted to the city by the end of September each year. Organizations, businesses, and individuals can apply using the City of Morgantown's 311 mobile app.

Suncrest United Methodist Church is seeking a creative and enthusiastic West Virginia University student to join our team as a Social Media & Marketing Coordinator Volunteer. This part-time volunteer position (8-10 hours per week) offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital marketing, content creation, and community engagement while supporting the church’s mission to connect with and serve the Morgantown community.

Key Responsibilities:

Website Management: Maintain and update the Suncrest United Methodist Church website to ensure it remains welcoming, informative, and reflective of current church activities, events, and ministries.

Social Media Content Creation & Management: Develop and post engaging content across multiple platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter), to celebrate church events, share community outreach efforts, and promote upcoming opportunities.

Church App Updates: Regularly update the church’s mobile app with relevant content, including event schedules, sermons, and community announcements to enhance user engagement.

Marketing & Outreach: Collaborate with church staff to create and distribute marketing materials (digital and print) that highlight church programs, community service initiatives, and special events.

Community Engagement: Use social media to foster connections with the Morgantown community, including WVU students, by sharing inspiring stories, event invitations, and updates about the church’s role in the community.

Analytics & Reporting: Monitor social media engagement and website traffic to assess the effectiveness of content and suggest improvements to increase outreach.

Qualifications:

Current student at West Virginia University, preferably in marketing, communications, graphic design, or a related field.

Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X) and a keen interest in digital marketing trends.

Basic knowledge of website management tools (e.g., WordPress or similar platforms) or willingness to learn.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with an eye for creative storytelling.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a faith-based environment.

Graphic design or video editing skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools) are a plus.

Passion for community engagement and alignment with the mission of Suncrest United Methodist Church.

Schedule:

Ronald McDonald House Morgantown is looking for a group of volunteers to bring snacks or activities for our families! These events help alleviate stress and allow our families to spend time together outside of the hospital setting. Some of our events include movie nights, pamper parties, wellness activities, or craft nights. Family participation cannot be guaranteed but you will receive credit for your time regardless!

Additional Information:

1.      Volunteer groups should consist of 2 to 6 people. For more information on group sizing please contact Jillian Bratton, the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator.

2.      All volunteers must be over the age of 13 and submit a volunteer release form AND confidentiality agreement. If a minor, they must have an adult with them at all times.

3.      All Family Social Hour activities must be approved by the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator.

Classroom Assistant

The Country Roads classroom is a vitally important place for our students. What happens in the classroom sets the foundation for our student education and development as independent individuals. Classroom Assistants are an invaluable resource to our students and educational specialists. Classroom Assistant responsibilities include: helping instructors with group activities, providing one-on-one classroom instruction to certain students, assisting students in completing in-class assignments/activities, and assisting students with in-class organization and time management.

Classroom peers may also assist Country Roads students with their homework and after-class activities. Study Hall is scheduled for Thursday 5:30-6:30 pm in Lincoln Hall; however, students have assignments due throughout the week and may benefit from working with a peer mentor. 

Activity Peer

The objective of the Activity Peer is to help facilitate the Country Roads student's understanding and participation in regular campus activities. There are many options available on campus such as concerts or plays at the Creative Arts Center, various sporting events, or different interest groups available that would be meaningful to the students.

On or off-campus clubs and organizations such as fraternities or sororities, student government, and community projects are some more great ways for students to get involved. Many of our students already play musical instruments and have other skills and abilities they want to be able to share. This is a great opportunity for relationships to begin, and for social skills to be modeled and learned. Students may have particular interests or may be completely open to trying new things!

Lunch or Dinner Peer

Eating with peers is always a welcomed activity, prompting relationships to occur spontaneously. This is a good chance for our students to be part of a “real college experience.” Country Roads students will have meal plans and will eat lunch and dinner on campus in the Towers Dining. Country Roads students, individually or in a small groups, are encouraged to adopt a meal on a particular day of the week to serve as lunch or dinner buddies for one or both of these meals.

The CED serves as a bridge between the university and community to meet the needs of people with disabilities through research, education and service. To help meet these needs the CED educates students, families and professionals on best practices. Education and training is provided through one on one consultations, group trainings, academic coursework and mentoring.

The CED works to train students who will be working in the field of disabilities or health related careers to build a workforce that is knowledgeable about how best to serve individuals with disabilities and their families. Providing continuing education to those already in the workforce is equally important and the CED provides many professional development opportunities across the state.

Textbooks are essential for academic success but can be prohibitively expensive for many WVU students.

Recognizing this challenge, the WVU Libraries is partnering with the Student Government Association (SGA) to expand the collection of textbooks available for checkout. By donating textbooks you no longer need, you can help your fellow students while also earning one service hour per textbook donated (current editions less than 5 years old).

What We Do: Build and develop the WoW student lounge in the downtown library. Help with a variety of tasks needed, can be catered to your interests. Some examples of tasks done in the past: building zine kits, making flyers, monitoring remote control car usage, putting “grab n go” kits together, etc.

Who we are: The lounge is a safe space for students, by students. It aims to be a place where students can access various mental health and well being resources while also relaxing and having fun. The lounge encourages creativity and activism by having a crafting area for students to utilize and providing a place where they can express themselves.

If you are looking for reoccurring volunteer hours every week, look no further than the Ronald McDonald House Morgantown! We are searching for dedicated individuals to participate in our housewarming program. Volunteers are needed to help us take care of our house and our families! Some of the activities include:

1.      Cleaning family rooms and common spaces.

2.      Sorting and cleaning out the pantry and kitchen.

3.      Helping to organize various storage closets.

4.       Making welcome bags.

5.      Greeting guest families.

Volunteers are expected to work at least 15 hours a week and go through a short orientation before their first shift. Volunteer hours are available from 9am to 9pm, 7 days a week. All volunteers must reach out to the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator, Jillian Bratton, at jillian@rmhcpgh-mgtn.org or at 304-322-2071 for an application.

Additional Information:

1.      You must be above the age of 18 and must complete both an application and a criminal background check before signing up for a shift.

2.      Two-hour shifts equal two credit hours and if documentation is needed for a class or program, it must be signed by either the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator or the Family Services Director.

We are in need of 30 Peer Mentors for our program! Time commitment is 3 hours a week. You will be paired 1:1 with a student enrolled in the Autism Support Program and need to meet with them once week independently for 1 hour. Collisions are most commonly caused by the reflective characteristics of glass. Because the outside of glass reflects the environment around it, birds do not recognize it as a barrier. The birds see the reflected environment, such as trees and sky, and collide with the glass assuming it is a clear flight path. United Way Family Resource Network
Vision: The United Way Family Resource Network (UWFRN) is dedicated to improving the quality of life for Monongalia County’s children and families.

Mission: Encouraging and empowering our local community through parent leadership, community awareness, capacity building, and cooperative planning to create resilient and sustainable families in Monongalia County.

FRNs represent an important partnership between state government and local communities to identify current needs and develop an implementation plan to meet them. UWFRN serves as a primary coordinating and planning body for Monongalia County’s community service system. Rather than providing direct services, the UWFRN performs several important roles impacting children and families:
-Identifies community needs and gaps in services
-Builds community capacity to address identified needs
-Promotes public awareness regarding policies and issues

Goals
1. UWFRN will ensure that Monongalia County children and families have the necessary knowledge and resources to become or maintain stability.
2. UWFRN will ensure that Monongalia County children and families are safe and sustained.
3. UWFRN will ensure that Monongalia County children and families are educated toward the reduction of alcohol, drug, and tobacco misuse.
4. UWFRN will ensure that Monongalia County children and families are able to maintain positive nutritional behaviors impacting the health and wellness of our count.

UWFRN Advisory Board Members will:
1. As an Advisory member you must meet the needs of the people you serve (if applicable).
2. Advisory members, acting as a group, create the goals and action plan the program manager will implement and achieve.
3. Advisory members must ensure that their organization has adequate finances and that money is spent responsibly.
4. Advisory members must play an active role in supporting the program and the manager.
5. Advisory members, acting as the team, shall have a long-term written plan for the future of the program.
6. Advisory members shall attend board meetings and actively participate in service and at program events throughout the year.

Early Childhood Education Partnerships- a collaborative effort to identify develop and implement responsive services to young children and families.

The council is made up of local agency representatives and Monongalia County community members. We meet about once a month virtually to plan for events. Each cycle consists of about six in-person events outside of planning meetings which have historically included community baby showers, in-person training for the community, and more.

Council members ideally will participate in at least 75% of meetings and events.

HOPE Counselors are compassionate, kind-hearted, mature,
outgoing, and proactive. They have a significant impact
on a participant’s experience in year-round Pathways programs. They nurture close relations with participants, they are often the cheerleaders in the lives of
youth participants, and provide mentorship and guidance.

Recruitment for HOPE Counselors is year-round. We ask volunteers to committ to a minimum of 20 hours which includes required training and at least four Pathways mentorship events.  Volunteers may also assist with planning and preparation of Pathways activities. Our next volunteer training will occur in March and Pathways programming begins in April 2025. 

In 2026 HOPE Counselors will participate in overnight camp.

We serve a free meal to anyone who walks in the door Monday through Friday. You can help with food preparation, organizing, and cleaning. Whatever fits your fancy! Even if you can only come for an hour your help will be greatly appreciated.

Here are a few examples of our opportunities:

Garden Keepers meet on Thursday mornings during the busy season, and help to weed and maintain planting beds.

Hosts provide information and greater access to the Garden’s weekend visitors. Greet, meet, inform, and orient visitors from near and far. Weekend shifts are 10 a.m.-1:00pm and 2:00-5:00 p.m. Mentoring and guidelines are provided.

Lend a hand at the WVBG. Projects may include preparing, planting, or transplanting in new or existing gardens, pruning, invasive plant removal, and other hands-on projects. Join us on your own or contact us to organize a group work-day.

Program & walk volunteers help with tasks like signing-in attendees on a tablet, introducing the WVBG and the speaker, answering WVBG related questions, and assisting as needed. Training will be provided. Also, if you're a natural leader - feel free to share your knowledge and enthusiasm with WVBG visitors by become a Group Tour Leader, Educational/Interpretive Walk Leader, or Children’s Program Leader. If you have a specific skill, you could lead an Educational Workshop.

Work with our site director on a variety of more rigorous maintenance and building projects throughout the year.

Help us make each WVBG event a success. As part of an event committee you can assist with planning, including choosing activities, publicizing the event, organizing food, etc. You can also help during the event by running activities, organizing crowds, serving food, event set up and take down, and more.

Help the WVBG grow with financial support. Fund-raising may include production of materials for potential donors, making phone calls, and organizing fund-raising events and activities. Grant writing may include researching and identifying potential funders, as well as assistance with application organization and preparation.

Provide assistance with projects and ongoing WVBG administration. This could include organizing mailings, compiling information, writing and sending correspondence, updating databases, making plant labels, assisting with volunteer coordination, and other tasks as needed.

Position is by invitation only. This position will support the Ridge Way Farm's agriculture initiative through assistance with task such as study design, data collection, analysis, reporting, and presentation. 

Volunteer will assist and/or teach children ages 4-10. Lessons and crafts will be provided. Volunteers will complete Safe Sanctuaries training prior to being placed with children.

We are in need of volunteers that are willing to visit with hospice patients residing in local nursing home facilities.  Volunteer visits would provide companionship and socialization to the patients.  Volunteers are welcome to assist with group activities within the facility as well.  Schedule can be flexible and no set hours required.

Seeking a volunteer that is willing to travel to Preston County and provide companionship to our patients and families in the neighboring county.  Schedule is very flexible.  Any availability to go would be appreciated, could be once a month or once a week.  Kingwood, Wv is approximately 17 miles from Morgantown. 

If you are looking for an opportunity to work with kiddos while working on your skills or in need of hours in your field -- We are looking for individuals that can help in the areas of Physical, Occupational and Speech therapy. Hours of our school are 8am - 2:15pm.  We have a total of 9 students, several in need of working with a speech therapist, and several for physical and occupational therapy.

The Preston County Youth Center  (PCYC) has established a Micro School. We are looking for tutors in reading, math, and writing, just to give our kiddos a little extra help. We are looking at a time frame of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The kids are in school from 8 am to 2:15pm.  We would love to have tutors come in and help out if possible.

Camera operators capture live camera footage during the service. Previous experience in audio/video equipment control is preferred but is not required as training will be provided. PowerPoint operators follow the bulletin and cues from speakers and accompanists. Reliable, responsible individuals are necessary. We accommodate student schedules (university holidays).

SRSH works with local elementary, middle, and high schools to provide food bags every week.  Children in this program can discretely pick up a pack full of food for the weekend, and help to keep their bellies full until Monday. We welcome students to observe our Feeding and Swallowing Clinic. In fact, we have multiple students involved in clinic each week. Students here at Feeding Clinic represent a variety of majors including speech pathology, social work, nutrition, occupational therapy, physical therapy, medicine, pharmacy, law, education, counseling, nursing, psychology, and early intervention. During clinic, licensed mentors from SLP, OT, Psych, Social Work, Law, and Dietetics work together as a team to provide feeding assessments and needs assessments.

If you are interested in observing at Feeding Clinic, you will need to complete a registration form, HIPAA training, and Media Consent Form. Once you register via iServe, we will make the required documentation available to you.
