Description

We are seeking compassionate volunteers to provide caregiver respite visits for hospice patients and their families. This valuable service gives caregivers an opportunity to take a much-needed break while knowing their loved one has the companionship of a caring volunteer. Respite volunteers provide non-medical companionship and supervision for hospice patients for up to four hours at a time, allowing caregivers to run errands, attend appointments, shop for groceries, participate in community activities, attend church services, or simply take time to rest and recharge. During visits, volunteers may engage patients in conversation, read aloud, play games, watch television together, listen to music, look through photo albums, or simply provide a friendly and reassuring presence. Volunteers do not provide hands-on care, administer medications, assist with personal care, or perform medical duties. This flexible volunteer opportunity is ideal for individuals who enjoy spending time with others and want to make a meaningful difference for both patients and their caregivers. Hospice staff provide training, guidance, and ongoing support to ensure volunteers feel comfortable in their role. Volunteer Responsibilities: Provide companionship and socialization for hospice patients Stay with patients for up to four hours while caregivers take a break Engage patients in activities based on their interests and abilities Offer a safe, supportive, and caring presence Report any concerns to hospice staff Why Volunteer?
