10th Mountain: Climb to Clean
WVU’s Center for Community Engagement, in collaboration with the WVU Center for Veteran, Military, and Family Programs, will organize a service project "10th Mountain: Climb to Clean". Seneca Rocks holds profound cultural and historical importance, having served as a pivotal training ground for the 10th Mountain Division during World War II. Involving veterans in the preservation efforts at this iconic site fosters a meaningful reconnection with their military heritage, while also contributing to the conservation of a location rich in collective memories for the community. This project aligns with the principles of the 10th Mountain Division reflected in their motto, “Climb to Glory” because each step taken during the climb and cleanup serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by veterans, past and present. On August 24th, we will travel to Seneca Rocks, for the day, to participate in a trail cleanup, working hand in hand, with student veterans, community veterans, and their families, along with some of our WVU student volunteers to help beautify our state of WV!
This is an-all day event that you can accrue several good service hours! The bus will depart the coliseum at 8:00 am and return to the coliseum around 5:30 pm.
A free WV military t-shirt will be included, drinks and snacks for the day, and we will all enjoy a provided lunch (hoagie, chips, potato salad) catered from Yokum's Grill.
