Description

Help the WVU Core Arboretum with our annual invasive species control efforts! Garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolata) is an invasive plant that grows in the Arboretum. Each spring, we seek volunteers to help us pull as much of these plants as we can and remove them from the Arboretum before they release more seeds. They are easy to pull, but widespread, so having lots of volunteers is really helpful! We will post multiple Garlic Mustard Pull events throughout Spring. More information about garlic mustard and garlic mustard pulling is available on our website (http://arboretum.wvu.edu/garlic-mustard-pulling-info).

Garlic mustard pullers will meet at the Arboretum parking lot. Bags and gloves will be supplied. Please wear clothes that you do not mind getting dirty. Long pants are essential and long sleeves are a good idea. Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. It is not hard work (think weeding), but it does involve lots of walking through the woods on uneven terrain and bending to reach the plants.
