Help WVU Core Arboretum with our annual invasive species control efforts! Shrubby honeysuckle (Lonicera sp.) is an invasive plant that grows in the Arboretum. Each spring, we seek volunteers to help us pull as much of these plants as we can and remove them from the Arboretum. They are fairly easy to pull, but widespread, so having lots of volunteers is really helpful! We will post multiple invasive plant control events throughout Spring.
Honeysuckle pullers will meet at the Arboretum parking lot. Bags and gloves will be supplied. Please wear clothes that you do not mind getting dirty. Long pants are essential and long sleeves are a good idea. Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. It is not hard work (think weeding), but it does involve lots of walking through the woods on uneven terrain and bending to reach the plants.
