A 200' segment of Roadside Trail is being upgraded by the addition of a new 'top-coating' of shale and gravel. Erosion has caused the exposure of many roots and rocks, making the trailbed in this segment rougher, muddier, and bumpier than intended. Our work will result in a firm, dry, smoother trail for a heavily-used part of the Coopers Rock trail system. We'll be using wheelbarrows, buckets, shovels, rakes, and tampers. Expect your shoes to get dirty and choose footwear appropriately. Tools and gloves provided. Trails at Coopers Rock have seen historically high usage during 2020, and keeping them up to a high standard benefits the entire cross-section of visitors to Coopers Rock.
This project is run on an Open House format -- you may work just a portion of the 5 Hours if that suits your schedule
