Looking for a unique way to knock off up to a dozen Community Service Hours in one weekend, outdoors? You have found your answer here.
The Coopers Rock Foundation is hosting it's Annual Coopers Rock Halloween Candy Trailwork Weekend, wherein we work 9-5 Saturday [Day #1] and 1-5 on Sunday [Day #2], on trail maintenance at Coopers Rock State Forest.
All volunteers get free Halloween candy while working. It's a calorie-neutral event, as you work off the candy as you eat it, so therefore it is also guilt-free. And outdoors.
....and, we're trying to have hot coffee available as well...!
The primary goal of the weekend is to do a maintenance hike-through of the entire 3.1-mile Roadside Trail, which begins by the Front Gate and Day Use Parking Lot, and ends by The Overlook. Volunteers will use provided rakes, shovels, and mattocks, to clean out all drainage features, such as dips, water bars, ditches, and culverts. Other than drainage feature maintenance, there may be other tasks, and tools used, as well.
Work gloves and tools provided.
Open House -- begin/finish when you want to.
Free Candy! ... and, we're trying to make hot coffee available as well...!
