6th Annual Coopers Rock WinterFest

Calendar Happens On Feb 11, 2017
Time 9:00 -- 5:00
Expired

Description

This is the most unique and varied winter festival anywhere around here.  We offer the Slingshot Paintball Biathlon, the Snow Obstacle Course, Winter Disc Golf, a Winter Tree I.D. Hike, coffee and hot chocolate around a fire, FREE Try-Out Cross-Country Skiing, the Women's Frying Pan Toss, and more.  3 days of prep lead up to the big day, which we hold "snow OR no".  The event lasts from 10-4 but the hours for those working the event are from 9-5, which includes put-up and take-down.

Volunteers do NOT need to work the entire day.  In fact, we'd rather have you work part of the day and partake in WinterFest activities the other part of the day.

Each station will need some sort of assistance, and we look to Volunteers for that.  The amount will vary based on how busy or time of day.  Take-down, stariing at 3:00 or so, will be an important time to assist.  Helping the Cross-Country Ski Van and instructors handle and carry 30 sets of skis and poles will be an important task sometime between 9:00 and 10:00, and again at 3:00.  Passing out flyers and event maps to newcomers will occur intermittantly.  The Coopers Rock Foundation Board members at/near the Information Table by the entrance to the Day Use Parking Lot, will be who you speak with upon your arrival.  They will tell you the Task Of The Moment.  Your arrival and departure times must be noted by these people, on paper, as this is an "open house" volunteer opportunity, meaning you can start and stop when you wish.  All that we ask is that if you work, pleae work at least 1 hour.  You may also work the full length of the event, and, of course, anything in between.

Restroms available.  Bring your own food and drink, OR purchase what will be for sale as part of the fundraiser.  Dress for 20 degrees.  Bring extra gloves, handwarmers, snow shovel, if you have them.
