The opportunity to earn up to 13 Community Service Hours at Coopers Rock is available this weekend -- 9-5 on Saturday the 5th and 12-5 on Sunday the 6th. All tasks except work on Scott Run Trail will be at or close to the Day Use Parking Lot, just 1/4 mile in from I-68 on the right. FREE HALLOWEEN CANDY for all Volunteers. Tasks will include:
*Stone work including constructing cairns and creating a rock border,
*Transplanting some rhododendrons,
*Clearing out a new trail designed for beginner-level Cross-Country Skiers,
*Drainage maintenance along 1st half mile of Advanced Ski Trail and Roadside Trail
*Improving trail through a muddy area between a pair of bridges on Scott Run Trail (25-minute approach hike)
Dress for the weather, no sandals / boots preferred, expect to get dirty, tools and drinking water provided, along with FREE HALLOWEEN CANDY.
YOU MAY WORK FOR AS LONG OR AS SHORT AS YOU WISH. ARRIVING LATE AND LEAVING EARLY IS OK. YOU DO NOT NEED TO WORK THE ENTIRE 8 HOURS. Latecomers -- check kiosk in back of parking lot, near trailhead, for instructions if you don't see anybody.
