Arthurdale was the first of 99 communities built by the federal government during the Great Depression to help desperate families. Eleanor Roosevelt was involved in planning it and often visited the homesteaders. She even passed out high school diplomas. It was often referred to as Eleanor's Little Village.
Today AHI works to preserve this history, support the community, and teach visitors about the history of Arthurdale. It's pastoral setting features a food co-op, a museum, gift shop, and a large herd of playful goats.
Your service will include: Weeding flower beds, washing windows of museum buildings, organizing storage areas, dusting/sweeping museum buildings and a tour of our historic museum buildings. A take-along Lunch will be provided.
Please wear sunscreen, hat, no sandals or open toed shoes
