Parking Assistants will arrive at Mylan Park Community Center by 9:00 am on Feb 23, park in the volunteer lot, enter the volunteer door, register & get a name tag. You will receive highly visible ‘vests’, walkie talkies and depending on weather, a poncho. You’ll be working outside most of the time, so dress appropriately; Feb is usually cold! Parking assistants will be responsible for setting cones for special needs patrons and for directing volunteers to the volunteer parking lot and patrons to specific locations in the main lot, trying to ensure that patrons park properly (not blocking each other in), leaving entries and exits clear. They will also ensure that access to the building is not blocked so that soup transport vehicles can enter and exit. They will assist patrons who need special assistance with parking, as necessary (area with cones).
When vehicle traffic is slow, please take turns moving inside the lobby to warm up. We suggest bringing a snack.
