In collaboration with the WVU Human Gift Registry, the Anatomy Division at WVU School of Medicine is responsible for the gross anatomy and/or neuroanatomy education of our medical, dental, physician assistant, pathologists' assistant, nursing, athletic training, pharmacy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and online curricula. Most of these curricula are "dissection-based," meaning that the students perform the dissection to better understand human anatomy. Other curricula, however, are "prosection-based," meaning that the students rely on previously dissected donors.
Thus, the purpose of this volunteer experience is to help with dissection of our donors that will be utilized in our prosection-based courses. Previous anatomy experience is preferred, but not required.
If you would like to get involved or if you have any questions, please reach out to Dr. Dave Rasicci at david.rasicci@hsc.wvu.edu ... In your email, please describe your history with anatomy (previous courses) and why you'd like to get involved. This is an ongoing need that is most pertinent in the summer and fall semesters. Once established, you will have the ability to work and log hours at your leisure.
