Course Overview
This course recognizes the benefits of diversity and FEMA’s commitment to valuing diversity.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Define what is meant by diversity.
- Describe how diversity benefits us individually and collectively.
- State FEMA’s Vision of Diversity.
- Describe the agency’s commitment to diversity as stated in the Diversity Action Plan.
- Describe how culture influences our interactions with others.
- Describe the actions you can take to optimize diversity.

- Please have an active iServe account before participating
- Register for this event on iServe
- Click this link https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid.
- Click ‘Register for a FEMA SID’
- Register
- Write down your FEMA ID
- Click this link https://training.fema.gov/is/courseoverview.aspx?code=IS-20.21
- In the top right hand corner under ‘Take the Course’ click ‘Interactive Web Based Course’
- Take the course
- On the last page of the course click ‘Take the Exam’
- Enter your FEMA ID and Last name
- Click ‘I agree'
- Fill in Mailing Info and Business/Organization (if you do not know what to select, select ’Other’)
- Click ‘Continue to Exam’
- Take Exam
- Once your exam is complete it takes 1-2 business days to process and you will receive an email with a link to your certificate
- Email your certificate to hmlayman@mix.wvu.edu for 4 hours of service credit
- All hours will be approved by Jan 31st
