WVU Human Performance Lab

Who We Are

The WVU School of Medicine's Human Performance Lab (HPL) is an exercise facility which provides a variety of services to the public as well as WVU employees. The HPL, located on the ground floor of the WVU Health Science Center, provides individualized exercise prescription, Health History, 12 lead EKG, Bod Pod body composition, functional exercise testing, exercise prescription, and assistance with program from our Exercise Physiology Faculty, Graduate Assistants, or Interns. Health Professional students may earn Community Service in the HPL if all Immunization Records are up to date, and their HIPAA, and OSHA are completed.

 

Exercise Physiology students may earn Community Service for activities outside the normal EXPH/Internship duties.  Thus, EXPH students may be recruited to work health fairs, educational opportunities to the public or WVU, Women Love your Heart, and other type promotional health related activities. 

What We Do

The WVU HPL provides Exercise Physiology Seniors an Internship site to complete their Professional Field Experience. Thus, learning to work with persons of all ethnic backgrounds and disease processes.  We serve our students and the public at large.

The WVU HPL provides health education and individualized exercise prescription to all persons from 18years old and up.  The WVU HPL provides services at local Health Fairs and WVU Employee Fairs.

In addition to the teaching and service, the HPL conducts various Research Projects related to Exercise Prescription under the supervision of Exercise Physiology Faculty, Graduate Students, and Exercise Physiology Interns.
