The Center for Applied Coaching and Sport Sciences is a collection of faculty, staff and students from the School of Sport Sciences at West Virginia University who focus on evidence informed best practices in sport coaching.
It is the Center's goal to generate original research and materials that will fill the gap between cutting edge sport science knowledge and technology, best teaching practices and applied coaching across all levels of sport.
Mission:
Research – generate original research related to coaching and coaching education
Practice – develop collaborative relationships with both WVU resources and sport organizations in an attempt to bridge the gap between cutting edge sport science knowledge and technology and real world coaching across the levels of sport
Innovation – creating a supportive incubator to take real world ideas from coaches and athletes and cutting edge science based concepts to develop ideas into products and services to enhance coaching education, the profession of coaching, and the athlete sport experience
Student Experience – enrich student learning through hands on experiences and to develop professional networks
