How do I log my hours?

  1. Make sure you have responded to the need you're adding hours for.
  2. In the top right of your screen, select the dropdown arrow beside your initials and click Track Hours.
  3. Select + Add Hours under Volunteer Hours.
  4. If the hours are in response to a need, select Yes and then choose the volunteer need from the dropdown menu.
  5. If the hours are not in response to a need, see below.
  6. Complete the rest of the information on the page, including a detailed description of what you did.
  7. Once finished, click Submit Hour Entry and allow for up to a week for a staff member of the CCE to approve your hours.

Staff at the CCE reserve the right to decline service hours if requirements are not met. Not sure what the requirements are? See How does WVU define service? for a detailed description of service.

What if my hours are not in response to a need?

While we encourage students to be active and complete service with official WVU campus and community partners, we understand that students often complete service in their hometown.

You no longer need to request pre-approval to track your hours.  Instead, you can now simply track your hours in iServe by following the below procedures:

  1. In the top right of your screen, select the dropdown arrow beside your initials and click Track Hours.
  2. Select + Add Hours under Volunteer Hours.
  3. Under Hour Type,  select No
  4. Complete the rest of the information on the page, including a detailed description of what you did.
  5. Once finished, click Submit Hour Entry and allow for up to a week for a staff member of the CCE to approve your hours.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Hours must be tracked within 12-months of the service being completed.

How do I track hours for a Service-Learning Course (SLC)?

  1. When selecting a reason for completing the service, be sure to select your SLC User Group instead of "General Volunteer Service."
  2. Some SLCs require you to only count certain volunteer needs. If you do not see your User Group under "Reason for Completing Service," the need you are trying to add does not count. If you think this is an error, please reach out to your instructor for the course.
